SkyGreece reschedules flights due to crisis

Thursday, July 2, 2015

SkyGreece Airlines, which inaugurated transatlantic flights from Toronto to Zagreb last week, has rescheduled the return leg of its second service from Zagreb to Canada’s largest city. Originally planned to run on Wednesday, the service will now operate on Friday due to the ongoing economic crisis in Greece. In a statement, the airline said, “Due to the ongoing political crisis and capital controls imposed by the Greek government, we were unable to operate efficiently, as well as respect our current scheduled flights. Therefore, to protect the integrity of our operations, we are forced to delay some flights that were scheduled between Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2”. The airline adds it plans to resume normal operations from July 4 but will continue to monitor the political situation closely. Flight GW425 from Toronto to Zagreb has been rescheduled for tomorrow. The estimated time of departure from Zagreb will be 19.15 local time, with arrival in Toronto scheduled for 23.00.

Correct. And ongoing economic crisis in Greece came perfect to serve as good excuse for delaying the flight for 2 days

  3. It has been reported on airliners.net that the aircraft has been grounded at Zagreb since the 30th of June with a cracked windscreen. The source of this info 'TripleDelta' is from I understand an air traffic controller at Zagreb Pleso and seems to be very well informed of the going on's at Zagreb.

Question, are any other Greek airlines being effected by the situation in this way?

    1. You mean by the crisis?

Aegean has been affected and they are offering refunds for passengers who don't want to travel now with the referendum and the ongoing crisis.

Aegean will also introduce additional flights to Brussels and Stansted for Greeks who are returning to vote in the referendum on Sunday.

SKG-BUD-YYZ was cancelled because plane was in ZAG, in hangar, to repair broken windscreen. The sam reason why the ZAG-YYZ flight was 2 days late and took of from ZAG to YYZ Friday evening. It has nothing to do with the crisis, and nosthing with the finances.

SkyGreece is using BH Air's A330 to supplement and replace it's 767.
The SKG-BUD-YYZ flight was canceled because the couldn't pay for refueling in BUD due to the banking situation in Greece.

Maybe recycled cooking oil? That's becoming big business for airlines that want to be green.

This is why I never fly on charter flights. If this was a main line flight you could connect through other cities and still make it to your destination. With charters you are at their mercy.
