Dubrovnik Airport profits from air bridges

Friday, July 17, 2015

Dubrovnik Airport, Croatia’s first to feature air bridges, has seen seventeen airlines sign up to use the service, the latest one being Croatia Airlines. The air bridges, which are a source of additional revenue as carriers must pay for their use, are currently being utilised by Air Contractors, Air Méditerranée, Air Serbia, Alitalia, Finnair, Iberia, Privilege Style, S7 Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomson Airways, Yamal Airlines, Enter Air, Europe Airpost, Germania, Israir Airlines and Croatia Airlines. The two air bridges were installed back in December last year but were put into use only this May. They are valued at 1.1 million euros and have been produced by China’s CIMC Company.

Somebody knows how to run an airport over there. In BEG, AS is parking their aircraft at the A-gates (looks nice) for hours while other airlines is parking on tarmac because all gates are busy.....not even the basics of airport operations are right at BEG.

How come that EVERY airport in ex-yu is moving forward and BEG is stepping backwards?

That's a great question. BEG had jetways for over 30 years and DBV started using them three months ago. BEG is adding 4 more jetways next year and added a million extra passengers in 2014, a sure sign of moving backwards. Pure comedic gold.

Anon 6:54 PM: you are just not getting it, are you? DBV is heavily investing in their airport, same goes for Split, Zadar, Pula. Skopje has done it, Ohrid is about to. Tuzla will have to. Not only are they investing in the airports but in the surrounding infrastructure, in another article here on the forum Serbia is being judged to be way down on the countries investing in their aviation infrastructure. Putting 4 air ridges in the budget for 2015 and then cancel them because you realize you have nowhere to hang them is not planning, it's stupidity. The terminals are in the shitts, the runway is a disaster, the baggage sorting is not even a joke anymore......the Arabs put in money that increased the transit passangers, why does the airport accept that AS has exclusive access to the air bridges, the deal says nothing about them being free of charge. Access roads to the LARGEST airport in the region is a joke. Parking is...... taxi is being run by huligans......is that moving forward to you?

Anon 11:28 PM: Haha! Just how everything else if being run in Serbia, shut up and don't rock the political system that allows incompetent politicians to appoint their even more incompetent friends to ruin what ever the can. Have you even seen the other airports around ex-Yu? Spend 3 days on the road visiting them and you will understand, and then go to BEG and look.

If you wanna talk about helping the society, the country? A complete change of thinking and mind set is more then needed right now. Nepotism and family ties cannot prevail over intelligence and the need of a country.

BEG airport is a joke. There is NO forward thinking, no planning, no interaction with the City. No vision whatsoever except "among the leaders in Europe".

Ask yourself why nobody is interested in the largest airport in the Region? Ask you how come that the capacity has reached it's maximum and NOTHING about the airport infrastructure has been done. Infrastructure doesn't mean building a new Business lounge. What international airport advisors has been brought in to advise on HOW to organize an airport or you think that SNS has the capacity?

Keep on with the ignorance and keep on being a joke.

There is a difference between constructive critisism and hate. Many comments in the past few months pointed out the need for specific improvements at BEG, which is positive. Crap like "runway is a disaster" is not, it is factually wrong (othewise LH and others wouldn't risk lives landing on it) so your posts at 8:12 and 10:40 are pure evil hate. With comments like that, no one is buying your "good will" and "concern" for BEG.

Apparently you are one of those that think that this country can be ran in the same way it has always been done, by party politics and nepotism, were everybody is afraid of speaking out hat everybody thinks. and you don't understand that its incompetence running both the Government as well as the airport instead of professional people. Evil hate? Do you live on the Battlestar? And by the way, the runway is a disaster, check the protocols....

Of course they are, the air bridges has not only a nice receiving passengers but it decreases the turn around time for the airlines = less ground time, more utilization of the aircraft....there are a number of reasons why the prefer the air bridges. This is of course another calculation that BEG management has missed completely....or perhaps I should say SNS?

Does anybody know how many people have been employed at BEG for the 1&2 qtr?

Do any of the negative trolls actually use BEG...?

I do. On average four times a month. My usual time gate to taxi is beteen 20 min and half an hour....with hold baggage..

It is a great airport to fly to and from.
