The Korean government has reaffirmed its intent for the launch of scheduled nonstop flights between Seoul and Zagreb. The South Korean Foreign Minister, Yun Byung-se, met with his Croatian counterpart Vesna Pusić in Zagreb recently where the issue was discussed in more detail. South Korea will formally ratify a new Bilateral Air Service Agreement with Croatia in late August, after the two sides inked the deal in Dubrovnik at the end of May. The new agreement will see Korean Air signing up for a reciprocal deal that gives both Korean and Croatian operators access to each other’s cargo and passenger capacity. The agreement allows for up to one flight a day each way by both countries’ airlines. It will also offer the potential for more codeshare agreements between airlines operating out of both countries. Minister Yun proposed that the two countries to work more closely together in the air services sector. Korean Air will operate a total of fifteen charter flights between the South Korean capital and Zagreb this summer. Some 240.000 Korean tourists visited Croatia last year.
