LOT confident in Ljubljana service

Thursday, February 11, 2016

LOT Polish Airlines, which will commence services from Warsaw to Ljubljana on March 1, says it is confident in the success of its new route to the Slovenian capital. The Polish airline says it is primarily targeting transfer passengers on the route heading to and from the United States. Speaking at a press conference, LOT's representative in Slovenia, Adrian Kubicki, said the airline wants to become the carrier of choice for Slovenian travellers seeking connections to Toronto, New York, Chicago and Beijing. "They will no longer have to travel through overcrowded and complex airport hubs in Western Europe", he added. LOT will run six weekly flights on the route with its Embraer aircraft. It will compete against Adria's three weekly service between the two capitals. "Adria is our competitor, but also our partner. I think we will have no trouble filling seats between us", Mr Kubicki noted. The Polish Ambassador to Slovenia, Pawel Czerwinski, emphasised that better connections will have a significant impact on relations between the two countries. "Our two countries are almost neighbours, but Poles and Slovenians don't know each other well enough", he said. He added there were still many opportunities for business cooperation, noting that the number of Slovenian tourists visiting Poland is still very low. In January, LOT resumed flights from Warsaw to Belgrade and Zagreb as well.

Not Embraer, it is going to be Dash turboprop.
And they will have to lower prices to compete primarily with Turkish, which has about 200€ lower price at the moment.

600 Km/h turboprop is just OK for this route.I just hope that the route will be profitable for LOT as LJLJ just lost Swiss flights to Zurich.

I doubt that LOT will succeed in the long term. LJU airport is well enough covered thru ZRH MUC FRA VIE IST HEL and CDG. No need for another transit point. LX made no cash in LJU so i doubt that LO will do. Also o+d traffic is limited between LJU+WAW
