Maribor Airport to get new flights

Thursday, January 14, 2016

German-owned Express Airways will launch flights between Maribor and Dusseldorf at the start of the 2016 summer season, in late March. Services will operate twice per week, each Thursday and Sunday with a Boeing 737. The airline, which is based in Maribor, will run 32 return flights. Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport's Managing Director, Ladimir Brolih, says Dusseldorf was selected in agreement with the tourism sector and the local community. The connection will benefit local businesses which have strong ties with the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The airport is continuing to engage in talks with Express Airways over additional destinations. Ticket sales for the Dusseldorf service are expected to begin next month. Meanwhile, the fate of Adria Airways' service from Marbior to London Southend Airport, launched last year and operated on a seasonal summer basis, will depend on next Tuesday's capital hike increase in the national carrier.
