Montenegro Airlines blasts Belgrade over fees

Tuesday, April 21, 2015

Montenegro Airlines has branded Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport’s fees as “irrational” as a result of a new pricing policy implemented by the airport last April. The carrier’s Chief Commercial Officer, Predrag Marković, said, “We have been offered extremely unfavourable terms for aircraft handling. It all started in April last year, when we were given an annex to our agreement which foresees a significant increase in handling fees by 50%. You will agree that this is quite irrational, because every year we record passenger growth on this market and basic business sense dictates that when someone records passenger growth they should be stimulated, not the opposite”. Despite troubles with Belgrade Airport, Montenegro Airlines handled 3% more passengers on flights between its home country and Serbia last year. During the first quarter of 2015, passenger numbers jumped 15%.

But, if they moved out from Belgrade, and start only from Nis, then its different story.

This makes a lot of sense. They could offer discount tickets to TGD and Tivat from Nis, and people from Belgrade could trek to INI and central/south Serbia, and even Sofia would use this route

Of course, because AB must subsidize Air Serbia. Very clever....ASL becomes "profitable" on paper and competition is mobbed away.....

Every airport protects its biggest customer and flag carrier, so stop crying over spilt milk...
p.s. Ako je Er Srbija raspala, sta reci za ostale avio-kompanije u regionu, a o YM da i ne govorimo ;)

anon at 8.31pm ... you're obviously a disaffected former JAT employee ... i'm surprised that you and your discredited kind have the balls to even write such comments on this website. Nonetheless, let's deal with your comments.

      1. The audited accounts confirm a profit of EUR2.7m... there is no loss of EUR13m. You must have pulled this number from out of your backside.
      2. But, even if true, it is still EUR60m better than the EUR73m loss reported in 2015
      3. The airline carried an an incremental 1m passengers in 2914 over 2013
      4. The average age of the jet fleet is now just under 10yrs compared to JAT's 24yrs

i could go on and on, but if this represents an airline "sto je raspala", then what in the hell do you call what JAT was ?

YM are always a bit cheaper, faster and with better flying times from BEG to TIV than JU. This policy is rather unfair!

For an airline that hasn't paid airport fees in its home country and has accumulated an enormous debt in the process, it's rather ironic that they whinge about airport fees, when no other full service carrier is complaining ...

BEG is a profit-seeking enterprise. If they know YM is not going to leave, as this is its most lucrative market, of course they will look for a way to make the most out of the situation. Also, they probably don't see a lot of room for further growth, so no real need to support it.

Now, if only their policies were equally market oriented towards all customers, particularly the largest one...

  9. Gospodo kriticari. Taff luck!. Niste nastavili iz Nisa zbog profita. Iz Beograda ne letite iz milosti, mozda? Gde nema interesa tu nema ni letova. Bar sto se tice medjunarodnog saobracaja. Ostalo je do Monte negro erlajnsa. Tako izgleda odavde iz Sydney - a. Mirno nebo i prijatan let...
