New terminal for Tuzla Airport

Wednesday, December 16, 2015

The Federation government of Bosnia and Herzegovina will invest one million euros into Tuzla Airport next year in a bid to upgrade its facilities. In a press release, the Tuzla Canton government said the funds will be used to "build a new terminal" at the airport, but gave no further details. Furthermore, representatives of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce have expressed interest in investing in the airport. The Canton's Prime Minister, Bego Gutić, said Turkish investors want to see Tuzla become their transit point for freight from Turkey to Europe. The current passenger terminal in Bosnia and Herzegovina's third largest city was opened in 1998 and has the capacity to handle 350 passengers per hour. Over the past eleven months, Tuzla Airport handled 241.647 passengers, an impressive increase of 75.3% compared to the same period last year.

They better invest in their ILS first before bad things happen...

New ILS system is not realistic at this point. But, they MUST upgrade approach lighting system, it is AWFUL. If the Turks do what they are promising to do, we can expect big things in TZL.

ILS CAT I was installed at TZL in 2009, but upgrade to at least CAT II should be considered for sure.
