Record numbers at Rijeka Airport

Tuesday, September 1, 2015

Rijeka Airport is on course to record its busiest year since opening its doors to the public in 1970. It handled its 100.000th passenger for the year on August 27, an impressive 38 days ahead of 2014. Estimates suggest that almost 200.000 passengers will use the airport this year. The strong growth is in part due to Limitless Airways, a newly established Croatian-registered airline operating on behalf of the Nordic tour operator Scandjet. This summer, Limitless is running charter flights from Rijeka to several cities in Sweden, Denmark and Finland, with a Croatian-registered Airbus A320 operated by local crew. Furthermore, the airline will maintain services during the winter months as well, with flights to Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco. In addition to Limitless’ new flights, Croatia Airlines launched new seasonal services from the coastal city to Munich on March 29, complementing its existing summer flights from Rijeka to London Heathrow.
