SkyGreece Airlines ceases operations

Monday, August 30, 2015

SkyGreece Airlines, which has been operating seasonal flights between Toronto and Zagreb since June, has officially ceased all operations. In a statement, the leisure carrier said, "SkyGreece management regrets to announce that it must temporarily cease all operations". It added, "We would like to apologise to all passengers who have been affected as a result of the company’s current operational crisis. The founders, managers and employees of SkyGreece care deeply about their passengers and have been working around the clock to resolve the problem". Shortly after launching scheduled seasonal services from Canada and the United States to Greece, Croatia and Hungary in May, the airline suffered financial setbacks as a result of the Greek economic crisis, resulting in a dramatic reduction in ticket sales. The carrier's Boeing 767-300ER aircraft has been impounded at Toronto Airport as it was unable to pay its fees. The Toronto - Zagreb service, launched in June, proved popular with travellers with good loads recorded up until the route's suspension. The flights marked the resumption of long haul flights from Zagreb for the first time in seven years.

Yes. Average load from/to ZAG was approx. 200 passengers. Only P2P, no feed. And with 300 $ more expensive tickets to/from ZAG than to/from ATH,SKG,BUD. The comment you asked for is : Based on NUMBERS, not politician's pre-electorial statements like in the neighborhood, the flight ZAG-YYZ-ZAG is going to be back very soon, on GW or some other airline. Best regards from Croatia!

still considering GW as a possibility? you are not realistic. even if they come back from the dead, who would risk buying a ticket from them after what they did?

other airlines will be very careful not to make the same mistake

Ode mast u propast.

Who would have thought that launching a transatlantic schedule with only one aircraft is risky and unprofitable?
    Someone tell Vucic!
