Split Airport sees record June

Monday, July 6, 2015

Split Airport has seen its busiest June on record, handling 271.006 passengers, an increase of 14.4% compared to the same month last year. As a result, Split was the second busiest airport in the former Yugoslavia in June, behind Belgrade but ahead of Zagreb, Dubrovnik and Pristina. During the first half of the year, Split Airport welcomed 609.570 travellers through its doors, an increase of 10.7% on the same period last year. The Croatian government recently announced the construction of a new multi million euro terminal at Split Airport, which will stretch over 34.500 square metres and increase the airport’s capacity to 3.5 million passengers per year. Split was the former Yugoslavia’s third busiest airport in 2014 and is the second busiest in Croatia after Zagreb, handling a record 1.7 million passengers last year.

I remember that in 2008, 2009.. they were even coming to hotels in surroundings (Split, Trogir, even Makarska...) and doing check-in and printing boarding passes on reception day earlier!
