Spanish low cost airline Volotea will introduce a number of new routes to Croatia this summer from its bases in France and Italy. In addition to its previously announced new flights from Marseille and Venice to Dubrovnik, the carrier will also resume services from Bordeaux and Nantes to the Croatian holiday hotspot next year. In addition, Volotea will also introduce new flights from Toulouse, Bordeaux and Nantes to Split next year. All services will operate on a seasonal summer basis with the carrier's 125-seat Boeing 717 aircraft.

That's great news.
ReplyDeleteRemarkably, they will operate on day 7 a routing of BOD-SPU-TLS-SPU-BOD, a so called "W-scheme". I wonder why not more airlines are operating this scheme (for flights upto approx. 2 hrs of flying time)?
if you were a tour operator buying only seats BOD-SPU-BOD, you would have too many hours between arrival and departing pax in Croatia, which presents a significant cost. Ok for airlines, but not so ok for organized groups.
DeleteWhat significant costs are you talking about? Its not like pax would spend an additional night in the destination. There are hundreds of flights like that such as BUD-Dest.-DEB-Dest.-BUD, BTS-BOJ-SLD-BOJ-BTS, VIE-CHQ-LNZ-GRZ-CHQ-VIE and even Germany-KGS-GRZ-VIE-KGS-Germany on X3 and so on. Those W flights are mostly charter or seasonal.
