NEWS FLASH

VLM Airlines will reduce flights on its Antwerp to Maribor service via Munich from five to two per week just several weeks following the route's launch. It comes after the carrier said last month it would sustain five weekly operations between the two cities throughout the summer. As of April 16, flights will run only on Wednesdays and Fridays with the fifty-seat Fokker 50 aircraft, the airline said. The development is believed to be in relation to poor demand for the route. VLM Airlines, whose parent company SHS Aviation operates Maribor Airport, has introduced an additional flight between Munich and Antwerp and is launching new services from the Belgian city to Aberdeen, Cologne, Rostock and Birmingham this summer.

They are a SMALL airline, what do you expect?
They have to scale down in preparations for A330 intercontinental operations!!!

It is because of lack of advertisment. Nobody in Maribor knows that there is this route on offer.

what a joke is this airline

Who in Maribor would fly this route? Lack of interest and lack of money.

Today (sale price) MBX-MUC is bookable for as low as 39€. Everyone can afford that.

Would you book a flight with this joke airline to catch a connection for an interconti flight from MUC, say 2 months in advance? Or to attend a business meeting in Muc?
The low price in not the point here.

it was all over the (national) news when the airline announced the route to Munich and Antwerp. Maybe there is simply no market or interest from Maribor consumers to fly...

Fact nu. 1: MXB has not been functional for years, people and companies need a longer period of time to recognize it as an option (im sure 99% of potential pax dont google for flight option to MXB, but to LJU, ZAG, GRZ)
Fact nu. 2: there was absolutely no advertising, publishing one article (news) in all daily newspapers is NOT advertising. I would expect them to make some focused advertising
Fact nu. 3: reducing the number of operations down to 2 pw only after 2 full months of operating this route shows they have no clue how much time market needs to adapt and develop MXB as an option for tourists/business pax.

All over pathetic!

They own MXB!

Mostly agree but don't u think they should nevertheless be able to sell at least 20-25 seats on average with those low prices IF there was any demand?

Hehe lol hilarious.

Now 2pw they are dead in Maribor

If the demand does not know u exist, its hard to sell any tickets.

Sloavio I agree with you. They started as they would be surprized to start with the route. They started in the lowest season, the announced the route too late! the same will happend with summer destination if there will be some.. they will start to promote it 5 working days before starting and they will start it after 15.8. probably... sarcasm...

First what is to do is that Maribor Airport is maintaning their hompage properly. On time status of flights, then they even didnt listed all partners and destinations... this doesnt cost money!!! First Tourism Board Maribor-Pohorje where are you??? sleeping? Anouncing? Thinking? Planing? Did I saw someone from Maribor Airport or Vlm on some touristic fairs? ITB, Munic? NO I DIDNT. Did I saw prospects about greatest new flight route in Europe? NO I DIDNT. If someone analysis their way of doing business... my question is if they employ people that like for hobby airplanes and students or is maybe at least one that is professional in this team? The answer: policitcal and no professional decisions.... a pity! Not to forget it could work as a good feeder of VCE,MXP and BUD!!!! it was mentioned 2 times in blog... but no discussion to this topic... a pity.... they could reduce flights with the winter season... for sure they will on to 0 departures! blass god maribor airport...

one way 59 it is ok! even goopti is not cheaper.... to consider if they start to do PR now Maribor airport with some regular articles in newspaper and tv,after 3 months VLM is starting to advertise winter 2018/19 and summer 2019 and put them on sale with PR and marketing in destination, here and hot spots in Ljubljana,Zagreb,Varazdin,Graz with a campagne 2 tickets for free... getting data base and also ticket offices to motivate to sale their flights as feeder for ... ah...i think no one is reading it and there will be no professional discussion... amen!
