NEWS FLASH

Swiss International Air Lines has outlined the planned schedule for its new Airbus A321neo aircraft, which it took delivery of last week. The carrier will utilise the jet, which has the capacity to seat over 220 passengers, on its flights between Zurich and Belgrade starting this month. Swiss has increased its frequencies between the two to twelve per week as demand for travel between the city pair continues to recover. Swiss’ competitor on the route, Air Serbia, has also upped frequencies to nineteen weekly, matching them to pre-pandemic levels. Swiss has a further seven A321neos on order.

Where is all this demand from BEG to ZRH coming from? Really interesting how many passengers there are.

Diaspora in Switzerland which for the most part did not travel in summer because of Swiss quarantine. Now that the restriction has been lifted, they are all visiting.

Yes but how come there are now more flights than ever before? That's what's confusing to me. Maybe more Serbs are going for holidays to Swiss since options are limited right now?

JU weekend timetable is pretty dope:

BEG-ZRH

07.20-09.10
12.40-14.30
16.20-18.10
18.05-19.55

No, Serbian people are not allowed entry into Switzerland. And it is not more flights than ever. Swiss still has around 7 weekly fewer flights than usual. Air Serbia has the same as last year.

* I mean Serbian citizens who do not live in Switzerland.

Really nice to see that BEG is the first to recive A321neo from Swiss in the region! Does anyone know which airport was the first to recive Lufthansa's A321neo? I know SPU recive it many times this summer but anyone knows more?

LH sent the A321neo to BEG a few times as well.

Swiss Quarantine list said…
As someone mentioned, Switzerland has removed the quarantine requirement for citizens and residents traveling to Serbia. There are very few European countries that are not on the Swiss quarantine list, so even some Swiss are using the opportunity to travel to Belgrade for a city-break.

ZRH was always the busiest international destination in BEG. If you include Crna Gora traffic, the total will be around 35-40% of the entire traffic of the airport.

SWISS has a good transfer options and people are using it for destinations currently not served from Belgrade, such as Rome

Rome.

What's even more interesting is that it's a market that is constantly growing. I guess that's because both airlines offer connections at both ends. It's a truly booming market, really great to see it grow like that.

I flew ZRH-BEG last week as a transfer from Canada. The Swiss flight to BEG was sold out completely. By contrast the flight from YYZ-ZRH only had around 30 passengers.

I'm in ZRH now and the airport is empty. But there are a whole bunch of flights listed to BEG! From the looks of it, the most popular destination. The check in counter told me a lot of people from Skoplje are using the flight as well.
