Low cost carrier easyJet, which serves the majority of markets in the former Yugoslavia, will make significant changes to its cabin baggage allowances from next year. The new rules, which will come into effect on February 10, 2021, will see passengers charged if their baggage does not fit under the seat in front of them. The type of seat a passenger has booked will also determine what bags can be taken on board - those with an "up front" or "extra legroom" seat can take an additional large cabin bag on board to go in the overhead locker. The new cabin bag size can be a maximum of 45 x 36 x 20cm, including any handles or wheels. Although there will be no weight limit, passengers are expected to be able to lift and carry their bag themselves. easyJet says if a passenger's cabin bag exceeds the maximum size, or if someone brings a large cabin bag to the departure gate without the correct seat selection, it will not be allowed to go in the cabin, and will be checked into the aircraft hold for a charge. Passengers who booked before the changes were announced have been informed that they can drop their larger cabin bag off at check-in for free, when they arrive at the airport, and then collect it from the baggage carousel after the flight.

ReplyDeleteIt was actually very big plus for U2 to allow normal hand luggage (56x45x25) with no weight limit to be placed in overhead compartments free of charge.
Now they become the same as Wizz or Ryanair. I suppose pandemic made them doing it. Really shame.
So sad! But with latest loss due to with pandemic it was expected... Hold on Easyjet
ReplyDeleteeasyJet had a 98% reduction in traffic this November compared to previous year. They are becoming increasingly desperate.
ReplyDeleteI haven’t flown with them in a while, but when I did, they were always the shadiest of all low costers, which isn’t anything strange per se, but their customer service representatives, both on and offline are probably the worst in this part of the globe and reducing baggage allowances certainly won’t make the situation any better for them in the long run.

ReplyDeletePeople carry too much baggage with them when they travel. I flew BSL-OSI in the past and it was horrible, people almost took their refrigerators with them.

DeleteI flew maybe 10x with ryan and wizz. Never had any problem. Few times just checked easyjet prices and always were too high
