Air Serbia launches 22nd new route in 2023

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia commenced operations between Belgrade and Ohrid on Monday, marking its return to the lakeside city for the first time in six years. It also marks the airline’s 22nd newly launched destination since the start of 2023. Flights will be maintained four times per week with the ATR72 aircraft. The General Manager of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Nejat Kurt, said, “We at TAV are delighted to welcome Air Serbia back to Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport and the resumption of flights on the Belgrade - Ohrid route, following a break that started in 2017. This resumption not only reconnects Ohrid, the Pearl of the Balkans, with the capital of Serbia, Belgrade, but it also signifies an important milestone in our recovery efforts following the challenging times faced by the global aviation industry. Additionally, the resumption of flights on the Belgrade - Ohrid route will not only benefit leisure travellers but also serve as a catalyst for economic growth. It will promote tourism, strengthen business ties, and facilitate cultural exchanges between Serbia and North Macedonia. We are confident that the resumption of this route will provide immense opportunities for collaboration, trade, and the exchange of ideas. Ohrid Airport’s team is committed to providing a safe and efficient airport experience for all passengers while working closely with Air Serbia to ensure their journey is seamless and enjoyable". Air Serbia’s Ohrid service is codeshared by Air France, ITA Airways and Turkish Airlines.

@Anon 15:30 How much did you pay in 2022 for that? ZERO!

If 15.47 million euro is zero to you, than you are very lucky and wealthy man, my friend.

So every resident of Serbia paid 2,30€ last year for 80+ routes?
      I say that's a good deal

    7. Anonymous17:12

No, PSO is not included in 15.47 mil eur. This was just capital money for the capital costs of expansion and, look, it obviously wasn't enough.
Also, bear in mind, less than million citizens from Serbia use JU services so you can't break this bill in 6 million pieces. I'm not against payments to JU, just vouching for correct information. As people say: Short reckonings make long friends.

There are no more subsidies for Air Serbia. ZERO.

Are you going in distress every time Air Serbia opens a new route with comments like that? They opened dozens recently. You must be in trouble.

    9. Which new route?
They just resumed flights to Ohrid after few years.

It it is 6 years, so it's definitely considered a new route by all means.

Unlike MM, looks like Ohrid is happy with additional visitors and tourists. Win-win for both Ohrid tourism and Air Serbia, loss just for MM.

Did the goverenment invest in it, or subsidy it? If it invested that is an entitely different thing, and a great move.

      Delete
    16. Anonymous09:32

It's not a great move. The government has no business investing in airlines in a supposedly free-market economy.

Even with the problem recently annonced, they can make it easy, now they need to focus more on ATR600

That should be visible in GDP growth rate, right?

    2. Serbian GDP growth is mediocre. Country is not doing better than any other neighbor and most don't have airline

    3. Anonymous21:11

Imagine how great would those neighbors be if they had an airline like Air Serbia :D

Most business people (especially employees of large corporations) arrive via Lufthansa and other large airline groups anyway because of corporate contracts.
