NEWS FLASH

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport has recorded both its busiest June and first half of the year on record. It welcomed 745.567 travellers last month, representing an increase of 37.6% on last year and up 23.8% on the pre-pandemic 2019. During the first half of the year, the airport handled 3.286.860 passengers, up 53.4% and 25.8% on 2022 and 2019 respectively. In a statement, airport operator VINCI said, "At the airport in Belgrade, traffic stabilised more than 20% above its 2019 level, buoyed by very strong demand for regional services (to and from Turkey, Eastern Europe and the Balkans). Traffic growth also diversified with new routes operated by Air Serbia (which added eight in May including several to Italy, Greece and Poland and one to Chicago) and Wizz Air".

Not likely, but expecting new monthly passenger record in Ex Yu will be set this summer at Belgrade Airport.

BEG had about 717.000 pax last August. If we apply the same percentage growth (37.7%) from June to this August's numbers we get 982.000 pax.

So if not for this year, than in 2024 we will for sure have a single month with more than a million pax

5th Wizz Airplane is coming, E195 should be here by end of July and, if I remember correctly one ATR is coming in August, so maybe the growth could be slightly bigger. They need 40% for 1 million...doesn't look that unrealistic.

Where did you hear a 5th Wizz plane is coming? I don't think it will come (if it comes) before summer 2024.

BUD had 1.338.000 in June but this was -9% compared to 2019. BEG reached for the first time ever 55.6% of BUD's numbers.

TIA reached 3 million on the 6th of July, so I'd say they had around 2.85 million PAX for H1 2023.

Great job Vinci and Air Serbia as the main driver with 52% of traffic. BEG had 2.1 times more passengers than the next best Ex Yu airport. More than double! BEG growth over 2019 is 23.8% where second best is only 3.1%. Huge difference.

With JU's upcoming China expansion (PVG and CAN as announced by Marek) and with Hainan going from 1 to 2 weekly I don't think there is going to be so much demand for EK.

Meanwhile there are clips that surfaced online yesterday of masses of luggage being left next to C1 gate at BEG. Vinci is extremely useless and I am happy they are paying JU penalties for this mess. Imagine leaving luggage out in the open at 40 degrees. What if people had creams, perfumes etc in their luggage? All destroyed by Vinci and their incompetent management.

Meanwhile JU managers are on the ramp helping load planes. BEG managers are on their way home the moment clock ticks 16.00. Disgusting and horrible.

I actually just passed through BEG this morning. Lots of luggage still left out for someone to claim but not as bad as the videos on social media showed a couple days ago. It’s clear VINCI dropped the bag (hehe) here. I will say on a JU flight from Bucharest out of 55 people or so on the ATR72 only about 5 of us were not connecting passengers.

For those wishing more flights from BEG airport, plese book a flight with AirSerbia and "enjoy" the service.
