Pegasus Airlines schedules Ljubljana launch

NEWS FLASH


Pegasus Airlines will commence operations between Istanbul’s Sabiha Gockcen Airport and Ljubljana, as previously reported. The carrier will introduce flights between the two airports on Monday, January 26, operating three times per week with the 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. Capacity will be increased to the 239-seat A321 from the start of the 2026 summer season on March 29. Tickets are now on sale through the carrier's website. Further flight details can be found here. The new service will operate alongside Turkish Airlines’ double daily flights between Istanbul’s main airport and the Slovenian capital.

On some days in the next summer season there are currently 1670 seats on sale between Ljubljana and Istanbul (3x A321neo TK, 1x A321 PC). That is A LOT.

tbh I wanted to visit Istanbul as a weekend break but i didn't because Turkish was too expensive as p2p ... and i think there are many like me who will now consider going there as a short trip ...

We have had someone from the industry confirm that it will be Berlin. Not officially confirmed but it pretty much is 99 % Berlin.

We are definitely reaching 2019 numbers (1,721,355) possibly even 2018! (1,812,411). To remind you we are getting Manchester, Barcelona, Podgorica, SAW, KLM increase, Edinburgh, Berlin.

This year there will be around 1,58 mio pax and only the additions I wrote about will bring us extra 246.000 seats, and there are other increases and potential new routes as well.

@10:04. I agree. LCC's don't catch demand, they create it. I never was thinking about visiting Edinburgh before but now I will most certainly do it next year since easyJet will fly there from LJU.

The flights are available for purchase now and some are selling as low as 28 euros one way. This will be a success.

yes but Amsterdam and Podgorica wont increase numbers ... capacity with KLM will be same as with Transavia, Podgorica will probably has just PAX shift from one airline to another .. maybe a small increase ..

Don't forget year round multiple daily flights to both Munich and Frankfurt, plus British to Heathrow

In terms of connectivity to hubs, LJU is doing exceptionally well, we're just missing some LCC options

Also the Istanbul market is massive, it's a city with roughly 16mil people in the metro area, that's more than Paris and comparable to London

After Pegasus came to ZAG, TK increased flights, not the opposite. Don't see why LJU should be any diferrent and don't expect TK to reduce flights or equipment. It will minimum remain the same or even grow

what Ljubljana miss now and should work on as a next step is more early morning departures ... at least Zurich, Munich and Paris would be great. and leisure routes: Malaga, Malta etc.

They offer connecting flights as a low cost carrier and are a cheaper alternative for P2P flights to IST. I cannot see how this route wouldn’t be succesfull.

Bravo LJU. Istanbul is always a good choice. I hope OMO will manage to resolve the AJet saga, or that it too will get Pegasus or even better Turkish Airlines to IST.

Tickets are SELLING the 1€ ticket is mostly no more and in the summer round trip is now well over 150€.

Checking Instagram comments under their post, we'll see a lot of Turks coming for vacation to Ljubljana. Great!

Because IST is a real hub, SAW is mostly LCC airport. Their connections are poor, they do not fly in waves, there are no multi daily flights.

Correct. Adria used to operate two daily flights to IST - one scheduled, and one charter, only for TIR drivers
