NEWS FLASH
Skopje Airport has handled over three million passengers for the first time in a single year. The milestone was achieved last Friday. December 12 The lucky passenger was travelling on a Wizz Air flight from Skopje to Bari. She received two complimentary return tickets to any destination within Skopje Airport’s network, as well as complimentary airport services and products from the business lounge, restaurants and duty-free shop.
Commenting on the achievement, the General Manager of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Nejat Kurt, said, “According to our projections, by the end of the year we expect Skopje International Airport to handle a total of 3.2 million passengers, while Ohrid Airport is forecast to reach 262.000 travellers. Compared to 2010, this represents an overall fivefold increase”. He added, “For comparison, our first year of operations in 2010 ended with 684.905 passengers at Skopje Airport. We reached the one-millionth passenger in 2014, the two-millionth in 2018, and today we are celebrating the three-millionth passenger. This clearly demonstrates our visionary approach, long-term strategy and close cooperation with the government as our partner”.
In 2024, Skopje Airport handled 2.954.568 passengers for the entire year.

Bloody hell, single company with 58 % of the share!
ReplyDeletewell thats nothing special.
DeleteOf course it is.
DeleteIts their home carrier what did you expect. Their dedication is only za pohvalu
DeleteTwo years ago Wizz had 78% share, so now with 58 this is very good. There are airports where Wizz or Ryan are the only operating carrier. Look at TIA, if Wizz is not there they will have 2 million pax per year, look at OTP Wizz has 19 aircraft there, same with SOF, BTS, KRK, KTW…
DeleteWizz Air's capacity share at Skopje Airport two years ago was 59.7%.
DeleteWell in the comments people were always saying that the capacity was 70%. If not in 2023 then some year earlier for sure. In 2018 maybe or 2021.
DeleteI am wrong again. I just checked the the post exyuaviation made for SKP in 2018/17. Even then it was 59% of all pax. Even if it is 30% if they close the base in SKP, SKP will immediately see a decline in pax numbers. Just like it saw in the early months of this year cause wizz removed the sixth aircraft it deployed in December 2023.
DeleteThat single company next year will have 3 million passengers out of Macedonia✈️👏
DeleteWizzair is since 2010 in Macedonia why would they decide to leave.
DeleteWizz is doing amazing job in Macedonia , they direct and indirect employees more than 250 Macedonians , they are very succesfull in our country all this years , andyes we wish this good success to continue in future, and we hope they will grow up operations as well!!!🇭🇺🇲🇰✈️
DeleteThere are not 250 flight attendants in Skopje, there are 150. None of which is satisfied with the salary.
DeleteNot saying about flight attendants , in headquarters in Budapest working alot of Macedonians some in major positions some in technical.operations, overall there are 250 people employeed by Wizz air from Macedonia
DeleteCongrats to Skopje, but 3.2m means that god-damned Memmingen Airport has more passengers (3.5m this year) than the capital of North Macedonia hahahaha.
ReplyDeleteand?
DeleteBavaria has 13mil of people plus it caters also to Baden Wüttenberg (11mil)
Delete@11.16 bit trigerred by this milestone?
DeleteHow does someone compare country of 80 million with a country of just 2 million people ??? I am not saying anything more than tbis
DeleteWhy didnt he hahaha at Ljubljana or Sarajevo numbers im wondering ...
DeleteBecause here some people comment negative on any results SKP have , just spreading negativsm thats all, I even didnt catch their comments as reliable , I scroll down to next comment always
DeleteWhy don't you compare Memmingen to LJU, the capital of Slovenia with at least three times GDP/capita than Macedonia?
DeleteLJU doesn't make any success , SKP is doing so thats why the hating coming ....
DeleteIts always surprising how stronger Croatia is in SKP than Air Serbia. It surely has to do with the proximity of Belgrade to Skopje in comparison to Zagreb, but I would assume JU to be more active there.
ReplyDeleteStronger how? It has more capacity but has less passengers. Air Serbia had more passengers on the Belgrade-Skopje route than Croatia Airlines had on Zagreb-Skopje. Remember that Croatia Airlines' load factor on this route is below 50%.
DeleteA show of how strong they are doing on this route
Deletehttps://www.exyuaviation.com/2025/11/croatia-airlines-halves-skopje.html?m=1
More direct demand. A lot of Macedonians working in Croatia and ofc a bit further. But JU ofc has better connections.
DeleteGreat to see them move forward again, been a frustrating status quo due to Wizz engine issues
ReplyDeleteHappy to see SKP growth as well , finally we are on the right way where we should be👏👏
DeleteWithout some real move in the European integration, the numbers will be less or more around 3.5 mil per year, I don't see how it might progress more.
ReplyDeleteMost of the people who wanted to move out, they are already out, the country is stagnating, the economy is stagnating...
lol
DeleteThe economy isnt stagnating its growing its 2025 projected growth is 3.3% which if achieved would be more than half of the other balkan countries.
DeleteEconomy grew 3,8% Q3 2025 compared to Q3 2024. Croatia and Slovenia are the most advanced economies in the balkans. Serbia, Montenegro,Macedonia and Bosnia are economically very similair. Serbia and Montenegro a bit better but that is a very small difference.
DeleteWhat kind of an economy, I'm not sure, companies are closing their factories in the zones, no new investments on the horizon, only person in the government which is doing something is I must admin the lignja, nikolovski, the other ones are just sleeping and stealing people money.
Delete11:56 so this means if we join europe union we will fly for free?? Are u for real ? What the hell does that have with this? For good numbers we need more routes, good connections, direct hubs connectivity , please dont mix politics with this😡
DeletePolitics is always involved. But i agree there is a vague 'ceiling' for SK. EU membership is a very very long way away also.
DeleteI dont understand what EU has with this ? We need good connections and more direct routes to main hubs, plus tourist operators wide network of offers and thats all, we dont need to be EU member for good traffic results
DeletePegasus double the size of Turkish !
ReplyDeleteCheaper.
DeletePegasus operates three routes, Turkish only one.
DeleteThose Turkish numbers are all transfers , Pegasus are p2p ....
DeleteBrilliant result!
ReplyDeleteOnly 6th exyu airport to achieve this
Nejat Kurt also said he expects 20% growth next year
ReplyDeleteNext year we reaching 4 million passengers
DeleteIzracunaj
Delete18:32 3.5 next year
Delete@20.35 that is a growth of 8%. so you are going contra the airport's CEO. very brave
Delete21:22 I am just real , I said and before we can reach 3.5 to 3.6 maximum in 2026 and 2027 we can reach 4 million....if Wizz handle 3 million passengers in 2026 than yea we will reach 4 million , lets see :)))
DeleteNext year SKP will reach 4 million if Wizz doesnt reduce the base again. Just in July there are 470.000 seats on sale including charters.
ReplyDeletenein, for that you need a growth of 25% year round
DeleteSKP growth for next year is 20%
DeleteRealistic numbers for next year is we have 3.5 max 3.6 passengers , 2027 possible scenario to reach 4 million
DeleteI think Edelweiss was forgotten in the list (probably between JU an LO))
ReplyDeleteapropos Edelweiss: they could do much more
Freebird charters are not included as well
Delete"scheduled seat capacity" thats not Freebird
DeleteAmazing results for SKP, happy to see on the growth path again, next year will ne even better!!! Hopefully OHD will start growing too with more routes....
ReplyDeleteTransavia for 8 months handles 31k passengers and LF of 80% and they decide to leave the airport , what a miserable airline 🤮
ReplyDeleteThey can more more money elsewhere clearly. Thats their right as a business.
DeleteThose are seat numbers put on sale, we dont know the pax numbers yet
DeleteTo be honest when I saw launching this route and no option to transfer with KLM I didnt like it since then, I will rather chose KLM cityhopper option and giwe them subsidies then Transavia...
Delete18:39 they served the airport since March until late Octomber they are very close to those 31k seat capacity
not many in MK know about this company unfortunately. EIN is gonna be increased again I think
DeleteEIN is good too yes , but we need transfer option for AMS ...
DeleteSKP in Nov has 25% growth just saying
ReplyDeleteGood for you.
DeleteThanks dear hope its not too bad for you
DeleteEven in December the airport has a huge growth that never happend before, especially January and February as well , and that trend will continue through all year in 2026
DeleteAdmin do you have numbers on Freebird chartes , and did they reach the goal of 25k passengers in the first year of operations ? Thank you
