NEWS FLASH

Skopje Airport has handled over three million passengers for the first time in a single year. The milestone was achieved last Friday. December 12 The lucky passenger was travelling on a Wizz Air flight from Skopje to Bari. She received two complimentary return tickets to any destination within Skopje Airport’s network, as well as complimentary airport services and products from the business lounge, restaurants and duty-free shop.

Commenting on the achievement, the General Manager of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Nejat Kurt, said, “According to our projections, by the end of the year we expect Skopje International Airport to handle a total of 3.2 million passengers, while Ohrid Airport is forecast to reach 262.000 travellers. Compared to 2010, this represents an overall fivefold increase”. He added, “For comparison, our first year of operations in 2010 ended with 684.905 passengers at Skopje Airport. We reached the one-millionth passenger in 2014, the two-millionth in 2018, and today we are celebrating the three-millionth passenger. This clearly demonstrates our visionary approach, long-term strategy and close cooperation with the government as our partner”.

In 2024, Skopje Airport handled 2.954.568 passengers for the entire year.

Two years ago Wizz had 78% share, so now with 58 this is very good. There are airports where Wizz or Ryan are the only operating carrier. Look at TIA, if Wizz is not there they will have 2 million pax per year, look at OTP Wizz has 19 aircraft there, same with SOF, BTS, KRK, KTW…

Well in the comments people were always saying that the capacity was 70%. If not in 2023 then some year earlier for sure. In 2018 maybe or 2021.

I am wrong again. I just checked the the post exyuaviation made for SKP in 2018/17. Even then it was 59% of all pax. Even if it is 30% if they close the base in SKP, SKP will immediately see a decline in pax numbers. Just like it saw in the early months of this year cause wizz removed the sixth aircraft it deployed in December 2023.

Its always surprising how stronger Croatia is in SKP than Air Serbia. It surely has to do with the proximity of Belgrade to Skopje in comparison to Zagreb, but I would assume JU to be more active there.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Anonymous11:31

Stronger how? It has more capacity but has less passengers. Air Serbia had more passengers on the Belgrade-Skopje route than Croatia Airlines had on Zagreb-Skopje. Remember that Croatia Airlines' load factor on this route is below 50%.
