NEWS FLASH

Low cost carrier easyJet will introduce flights between London Luton and Ljubljana, complementing its existing services from London Gatwick. Operations will commence on October 26 and run three times per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Further details can be found here. easyJet planned to launch flights between the two airports in March 2020, but was unable to do so due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. During the 2026/27 winter season, easyJet will operate between six and eight weekly flights between London (two airports) and Ljubljana.

Stansted is arguably the worst of the 3 LCC airports serving London so it doesn't bother me all that much

What about Berlin. It is a must, it is the best route not to be served from LJU, I can't believe it's been binned off twice before, it's shocking.

My guess is that they'll open it up for summer 2027, similar to what they did with EDI

I don’t see how Berlin could work. Little incoming tourism from there, little industry. I would think Basel would work much better due to the vast pharma investments in SLO from CH. They’ve just started building yet another factory right at the airport.

Stansted has very cheap flights from KLU. Flew from there in March and many Slovenians aboard.

I think the flights would be a lot fuller from KLU if they marketed it in any way. I know a lot of people from Kranj and Jesenice, who drove to ZAG to take London flights, when they had KLU flights for cheaper (and faster)

It's very difficult for BER to be successful LCC route as both airports are too expensive...

At the guys saying he does not see LJU working from Berlin. Give me a break, we are talking about a city of 5 million people of the strongest economy in Europe. 2-3 flights a week is like 500 people. Give me a break :D

BER is difficult due to high taxes for the airlines. Ryanair just announced closing BER hub and withdrawal of 7 based aircrafts. Buying power of population declining, not much industry. I would prefer other airports in the south or PRG

BER would definitely work. But it would affect LHG transfer thats why it hasn’t happened yet. I hope BT makes a move and launches it. A220 has a perfect capacity for this route. 3 weekly.

It’s not easy to replace 27 aircraft. To fully replace CityLine Air Dolomiti would have to double the size their fleet.

They work well because the demand is both sided, UK turist love to visit Slovenia for a weekend getaway, so they do what they know will work. With Berlin the connection is VERY one sided as Germans love to travel by car to Slovenia.

It's odd that they aren't opening Switzerland connection or even Milan one tho...especially with Swiss comfortably filling 3 daily flights, 60% of which is P2P because of pharma, and Trieste-Milan train is always filled with Slovenian travelers

The train station at TRS really is used by a lot of Slovenians. I was quite surprised when I took the fast train to Rome from TRS airport train station a couple of months ago.

That's sick! A second LON airport in the winter is a great addition. A little out of the box, but I think Porto would also work great, considering there is no competition from surrounding airports.

According to a certain expert here LJU should have kicked out all airlines except LHG and make everyone fly through FRA, VIE and ZRH. It used to be MUC too but the system glitched and deviated from its core mission form making LJU a 100% LHG airport..
