Air Montenegro restored flights between Tivat and Banja Luka this week following a three-year hiatus. Services will operate twice per week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, until September 25. Commenting on the new route, Transport and Communications Minister of the entity of Republika Srpska, Zoran Stevanović, said the launch of the new air service represents an important step in the development of Banja Luka Airport and the enhancement of the entity’s air connectivity. “The goal is to increase passenger numbers and expand access to new destinations across the region and Europe. The Government of Republika Srpska and the Ministry will continue to support initiatives that contribute to the growth of Banja Luka Airport’s route network”, Mr Stevanović said. Air Montenegro’s CEO, Vukadin Stojanović, expressed confidence that the cooperation will continue and be further strengthened in the period ahead. The new route comes amid a decline in passenger numbers at Banja Luka Airport this year. During the January - May period, Banja Luka Airport welcomed 163.566 travellers, down 9.8% year-over-year.

Isn't Zoran Stevanović the Speaker of the National Assembly in Slovenia? Or does he coincidentally share his name with Republika Srpska's Minister of Transport

ReplyDeleteGreat news really. Reestablishment of the route is essential for all who likes and visits Montenegro during summer time. Flying via Belgrade was too expensive and Exhausting if possible at all
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and wishing this becomes popular. Connecting the capital of Srpska with the Montenegrin coast is important for seasonal tourism. Never understood why AirSerbia never facilitated such connection, especially with their extensive flight network with Montenegro, on such short flight.
