NEWS FLASH

The Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski, has said that plans for the construction of a railway link between Skopje city centre and the airport are advancing. “We are already working with the Agency for Spatial Planning and the relevant departments within the Ministry of Transport on preparing the urban planning and conceptual design for a railway connection to the airport. The idea is for the railway line to terminate directly in front of the existing terminal building”, Mr Nikoloski said.

Sure but far behind from OTP, SOF, BEG, ZAG, SKG. In which region, Macedonia’s region?

In a dream world trains would run from Skopje to Kumamovo via the airport every 30 mins. A dream i know but would be nice. Great to see discussion on improved rail acess. Macedonia has been quite active in trying to improve its railways and thats very welcome.

Every 1 hour would already be great. I expect this to end up being once every 2 hours sadly...

Every 2hours starts to be less useful. Also they would need to run services at 03:15 to connect with the busy morning flights. I will
Believe this when i see it :) but i want to see it of course

I hope this will materialize in my life time and see trains running from Skopje to the Airport every 20-30min and from there across and outside of the country

Every 20 minutes is very optomistic. But then again its good to be optomistic even if i cant visualise a world in which they would do this.

No need for a train every 20-30 minutes, but it will be good to have trains every 90 minutes, at least with the current schedule, since most of the flights are in waves and there are extended periods of the day when there are no flights

Hope this doesn't turn like Macedonia- Bulgaria railway that is ongoing project for the last 60 years 😀
Public train will be very beneficial for everyone as the current option is TAXI that is more expensive that the flight 😟 or one Bus line that is not convinient at all.
For now don't belive in anything, but in case it realy happens everyone will be happy 😀

Taxi in Skopje is cheaper than just about any city SKP has direct flights with. Lots of things are problem in Macedonia but not this. Macedonia

You make it sound like this is an unusual occurrence. I would certainly hope that taking a taxi to the centre is less expensive than an airline ticket put of Skopje.
