NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has expanded its business class catering offer on long haul flights by offering ice cream for the first time as part of its onboard dessert options. Developed in cooperation with the Belgrade-based ice cream chain GRAM, the new ice cream was inspired by the “orasnica”, a traditional Serbian walnut cookie. The dessert has become part of the carrier’s long haul catering offer on flights to New York, Chicago, Shanghai and Guangzhou from October 1. The airline said the new product forms part of its efforts to further develop the premium passenger experience on its longest services. Air Serbia’s Head of Marketing and Guest Experience, Bojana Knežević, said, “We work continuously on improving the products and services in order to provide the best and most pleasant travel experience to passengers. By introducing the ice cream inspired by the Orasnica, we further expand the gastronomic offer for the business class, and we also showcase another authentic flavour that Air Serbia is known for”. Business class passengers can order the ice cream at any point during their flight as part of Air Serbia’s dine on demand catering concept.

using various search engines/AI...I found that only 3 European companies are offering ice cream on long haul flights: Aer Lingus, KLM and Brussels Airlines. Nothing about Lufthansa, not even on their website (only Brussels Airlines mentioned). So, if Air Serbia is the 4th European airline to offer this - I really don't know why anyone is complaining. If you don't like it, then skip flying with JU and that's it.

The discussion is about economy class, which somebody said occurs on intra-European economy which is clearly not correct. As a business class desert this is isn't that good, especially in a paper tub, but if its an option or an additional snack then its fine.

I never got any icecream on Lufthansa, only a fruit yogurt in an overinflated cup that is about to burst, which made me conclude that those planes probably don’t have fridges onboard.

I don't want to be mean, but I hope that ice cream is served as well as a proper desert on a business class flight? It doesn't look very classy.

I got served ice cream on a business jet and was served exactly like that. Proper deserts are also served by Air Serbia in long haul business class, together with cheese and fruit plate and selection of cookies. You may want to upgrade your travel class.

Not sure the addition of ice cream in business class is worth an article on this portal, but I nonetheless got curious about this orasnica flavor. Since I won't by flying JU long haul in business any time soon, I wonder if this is available elsewhere to buy?
