Adria to lease CRJ900s

Two CRJ900s for Adria

Adria Airways will lease two Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft as a replacement for its aging and smaller CRJ200 version, which it plans to progressively phase out of the fleet. As the “Sierra5” portal reports, the first of the two aircraft is set to arrive in Ljubljana early next month. The Slovenian carrier has already grounded one of four CRJ200s (registered S5-AAE) and plans to sell it in the near future. The grounded aircraft was delivered new to Adria sixteen years ago. It comes less than a year after the airline sold another one of its CRJ200s, last September, to SCAT Airlines from Kazakhstan.

In June the Slovenian carrier plans to lease a second CRJ900, bringing the total number of aircraft of the same type in its fleet to six. As a result, it will replace the CRJ200 registered S5-AAD which is also earmarked for sale. The airline has begun to ease its reliance on the gas guzzling jet in line with its new business strategy announced late last year. “The CRJ200s are only suitable for the development of new routes. Our strategy is to operate larger aircraft and fewer frequencies. This way we can offer cheaper prices”, the airline’s CEO, Mark Anžur, said recently. Having a unified fleet is one of the key components of the carrier’s new full fare – low cost hybrid business model.

As a result of the arrival of new aircraft, Adria will recruit four new co-pilots and seventeen new cabin crew members. It is unknown from whom the Slovenian carrier will be leasing its two new CRJs but it is being tipped the carrier could receive a diverted order originally made by Iraqi Airways. Although produced in 2012 the jets have never been used. Adria currently has eleven aircraft in its fleet – four CRJ200s (one of which is grounded), four CRJ900s, two A319s and a single A320. The airline recently announced it will be adding additional seats across its Airbus and Bombardier fleet in order to increase capacity.

    Interesting news, thanks admin!

As admin already mentioned, according to comments under the news on S5 portal, these two might be destined for Adria:

I think it is a good move to have CRJ200 replaced.

Lot of new flights from Croatia are confirmed and published. Why they are not listed on list on right? I ask you for several weeks to publish those flights:

    Rijeka-Split-Dubrovnik (Trade air) from 4.4.
    Osijek-London Stansted (Ryanair) from 4.4.
    Pula-Dublin (Aer Lingus) from 19.4.
    Split-Athens (Croatia Airlines) from 3.5.
    Rijeka-Hamburg (Germanwings) from 4.5.
    Pula-Malmo-Stockholm (Primera Air) from 21.5.
    Split-Gothenburg (Air Croatia) from 14.6.
    Zagreb-Gothenburg (Air Croatia) from 14.6.
Rijeka-Roma Fumicino (Blue Panorama) from 20.6.

but it seems that mode is only professional what it is about flights from Belgrade, but those others are just for excuses. How comes that you don’t miss not one of Belgrade flights? Maybe it has to look like most of new flights are from Belgrade.

I am talking about list on right. On that list you don't have those flights!!!!

      Why?

Even in this article on left Air Serbia is not mentioned (but they mention shares in Air Berlin, Jet, Virgin). Congratulation!

    5. They are on the list. I don't know what you're looking at but they can all be found on the right hand side. Perhaps go through the list one by one. You said that not a single flight was listed. It turns out they are listed and you threw in some slur about information being posted about other cities.

    6. He was probably looking for Osijek -> London, Rijeka -> Hamburg as he was jumping over everything that doesn't start with croatian city (even London -> Osijek) although it is a foreign carrier...
I wonder if he will excuse...

No, I did not... thank you to put it, it was not there in the morning. And Rijeka-Split-Dubrovnik, and Malmo-Stockholm-Pula are still not on list.

      London-Osijek starts on 4.4. not 30.3.

    9. Not a single flight was added to the right hand side since March 16 so the list is identical as it was this morning. Have a look at what you wrote this morning. It turns out you were wrong about it so in the future, before posting innacurate information and insults do check.

  3. All of these seem to be steps in the right direction by JP.

Lower fares and free checked luggage vs fewer (5-6 weekly) frequencies and charges for food will fit well with PRN market, in my opinion. Don't know about other markets.

Thats True as OU management (Mr. Kucko ) only is thinking in saving his ass as nowhere else he will find a job that gives you a salary ( € 6000 netto ) without working for it.

    Who will buy these CRJ200s?
    For money no one.

I'm really curious to know the amount of money (or something else)) Adria got for selling 1 bird to SCAT.Airlines from Kazakhstan.
It was a poor strange sale.
