NEWS FLASH

Tivat Airport will likely be unable to handle over one million passengers this year, despite record figures in 2016. During the January - October period, Tivat welcomed 948.328 travellers through its doors, overtaking its record 2014 end-of-year result when it saw 910.500 passengers. The airport's figures represent a 10.4% improvement on last year. The number of aircraft movements stood at 5.633, up 10.1%. "In October alone we welcomed 49.042 passengers, which is up 22.8% on the same month last year. We handled 309 aircraft, which is also better than last year's 295", the General Manager of Tivat Airport, Jovan Mačić, said. However, the airport warns it is unlikely to reach its goal of welcoming one million travellers through its doors this year. "We will get close to the magic million figure but we will need a few thousand passengers more to overtake it. The reason for this is that in the last couple of months a notable number of flights were diverted to Podgorica and Dubrovnik due to poor weather conditions. Despite this, it has been a very successful year in which we achieved record results". By November 6, Tivat Airport handled 952.000 passengers.
