The overhaul of Niš Constantine the Great Airport in Southeastern Serbia is continuing to progress. The airport completed the expansion of its check-in areas this week by adding additional counters, while work on the exterior and roof is ongoing. The project is being funded jointly by the Serbian government and local authorities and is valued at 210.000 euros. Niš Airport handled 20.693 passengers in January, an increase of 316.4% on last year. It anticipates welcoming over 300.000 travellers in 2017. Recently, both Swiss International Air Lines and Germania Flug confirmed they would launch flights from Zurich to Niš in April and June respectively, joining Wizz Air and Ryanair in serving the airport.
