Austrian to wet-lease Adria CRJ900

NEWS FLASH

Austrian Airlines will wet-lease an Adria Airways Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft, registered S5-AAN. The jet is eight years old and will be utilised by Austrian from September 16 until the end of October. A wet-lease is a leasing arrangement whereby the lessor provides an aircraft, complete crew, maintenance and insurance to another airline. Currently, Adria has another CRJ900 on wet-lease with Swiss International Air Lines, with the deal expected to run until September 30.

  1. Adria is gaining traction in this ACMI business. It's no guarantee that they're actually making money doing this but it's promising.

    1. LH will need a lot of AC soon, as the aircraft leased from AB face an uncertain future. Germanwings is reactivating all its 320 they just recently put into the desert.

    2. It is smart for Adria but not fir Swiss. Decreases their product quality.

    3. They will need A320-size aircraft, not CRJ900.

  3. From who do Adria themselves lease the CRJ?

    3. You have companies like AerCap, GECAS, etc., who buy aircraft in bulk and then lease it to mainly small companies.

  4. I just heard fm LX that flights were run very much on time. So frommthis perspective they are happy. I dont think that JP CR900 config is any worse than F100 of Helvetic which operate on behalf of LX. I think that OS is now leasing a JP CR900 is not a too bad sign

    1. Maybe JP will transfer some CRJ900 aircraft to its new Swiss subsidiary to fly longer term for LX, replacing Helvetic's F100s?

    2. Frankly speaking there is a difference between Helvetic and Adria. Many Swiss people who bought LX tickect were dissapointed when boarded Adria planes. It's about the Swissness actually, and not much to do with Adria.
Helvetic is a long therm partner what Darwin was, so they need to win again their confidence first. This could potentionally happened on LUG ZRH flight but not just big time.
