NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia will suspend flights between Belgrade and Bari for one month, from January 11 until February 12, after which flights will be maintained until the end of the winter season and into the 2026 summer. The service was not operated last winter season. The carrier is utilisng an ATR72-600 on the route. It follows the carrier’s decision to suspend operations between Belgrade and Naples for certain periods over the remainder of the winter season.
EX-YU Aviation News spoke to Air Serbia’s CEO, Jiri Marek, on a range of topics at the recent CAPA Aviation Summit in Lisbon and will bring you his insights in the coming days and weeks.

Well at least they are operating this winter compared to the last one. Its always better to pause some routes rather then making loss and flying half empty planes, but at the same time an airline should keep a certain standard so that passengers dont have a fear if their flight is going to be cancelled or not. Still one or two routes out of 90 in total is not a big deal if they get paused, i am sure LH, KLM, AF, A3, OS, LX is doing the same.

DeleteHowever, on the other portal JU is crucified unlike other carriers doing the same.
When they are as good as LH or KL they will get the same treatment. Many like you want us to ignore their faults and to treat them like EK.
DeleteLH or KL doesn't kill January in December, they would do it earlier. Of course the sudden changes are always possible and happen, but nothing unusal happened with Naples or Bari or Belgrade this month, this is poor planning.
Delete^ you will survive.
DeleteI will although I'm affected with this Naples cut. There's a good alternative in codeshare with ITA, but JU didn't offer it so I opted for Alicante with Wizz, it's gonna be good anyways.
DeleteJU's operations this winter are undeniably much more stable in comparison to previous years. Rather than opening new routes they've focused on lowering seasonality with existing routes which we can't say hasn't been overall successful. Turning a seasonal route from summer seasonal to operating 11 out of 12 months I wouldn't agree is poor planning.

JU does get criticised for its faults when it should, todays article isn't one for criticism. It isn't as dramatic as say a competitor which decided to close a base in the middle of peak summer travel leaving tens of thousands to find alternative travel plans last minute.
I fully agree, even with these cuts their winter schedule looks more promising than previous ones. Although Naples got me, I still think it's good they have been looking into it (and scheduling) as year-round destination...
DeleteMinor change for operations but not great for public image - make these cuts in one day, inform the people and then very next morning launch new summer flights with a bit of a fuss.
ReplyDeleteWhich airline on earth informs the public if they cut some flights or route?
DeleteI said people (as affected people), not public in terms of providing some press release...
DeletePerfect route for FR, not JU.
ReplyDeleteThis route without transfers would not exist
DeleteSame as many others. 70th busiest airport in Europe has to work with transfers if the idea is to move a bit...
DeleteOn the contrary, JU has done quite well with BRI and Italy in general. The BEG-Italy market has gone from 2-3 year round routes to 7 with JU alone, 9 including competition.
Delete@14:47 Nothing wrong with that of course. My point was that it would be the opposite of a ''perfect route'' for FR.
