Low cost carrier Wizz Air will suspend flights from both Skopje and Tuzla to Larnaca for most of the upcoming summer season. The airline introduced operations from Skopje to the Cypriot city on October 28 last year. The route’s two weekly flights will be maintained until April 13, after which they will be suspended until September 21, when they are due to resume twice per week. On the other hand, flights between Tuzla and Larnaca, which are set to be inaugurated on March 31, will operate for just three weeks, until April 18, on a two-weekly basis, after which services will be suspended until September 22.
Both routes were due to be operated by the 239-seat Airbus A321neo aircraft throughout the summer. Cyprus has been impacted by the ongoing war in the Middle East, with a drone strike on a British base on the island in early March sparking a wave of holiday cancellations and prompting a number of airlines to temporarily suspend services. However, booking cancellations have since subsided, with the island’s main tourist season set to begin in late April and early May. Last year was record-breaking for Cyprus’ tourism industry, with more than 4.5 million visitors.
Despite suspending the two routes, Wizz Air is set to operate its largest network yet from both Skopje and Tuzla this summer. During the peak months of July and August, the airline plans to run 1.128 flights from Skopje (including both departures and arrivals), offering close to 270.000 seats on the market per month. This represents an increase of 26.4% in flights and 65% in capacity compared to the same period last year. In Tuzla, Wizz Air will operate 400 flights over the two-month period, marking a 119% increase, while capacity will grow by 156% to approximately 95.600 seats per month.

Why am I not surprised
ReplyDelete🥳
ReplyDeleteMore holiday makers to OHD.
DeleteThis was the most 'exotic' Wizz route from SKP and TZL.
ReplyDeleteIt is crazy how many changes airlines are still making to their networks this close to the summer season.
ReplyDeleteYou do know that there is a full scale war going on right now with several countries involved, right?
DeleteIt is crazy to name it crazy!
DeleteThis has nothing to do with the war. They would not be flying until late April if it was to do with safety concerns.
DeleteThey are flying until mid April due to Easter and increased demand for those 2 weeks or so.
DeleteWell, passengers from both cities can fly with Air Serbia to LCA via BEG.
ReplyDeleteOr with W6 from BEG to LCA.
DeleteLet^s see what happens to this route as well....
Delete^ it's frequencies actually increase from May. I guess only hope is left.
Delete^
Delete+1000
There are both JU and Wizz flights so it's likely safe
DeleteLarnaca was the seventh busiest route from BEG last year. So these dreams of it being suspended or discontinued by some (I don't know exactly why) is funny.
DeleteMeanwhile no one seems to be questioning Zagreb-Paphos. Interesting.
DeleteHaha my guy came and tried to equal Tuzla's route suspension to Larnaca with BEG. When people write just vause they are bored or idle.
DeleteA gaze unburdened by intelligence..
But why though? They don't seem to have suspended other LCA routes.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the other routes are to wealthier markets.
DeleteTirana, Suceava and Targu-Mures routes have had the same fate.
DeleteI notice a pattern.
DeleteThey are using war as an excuse.
DeleteMaybe soon. In any case, a nice opportunity for JU to collect transfers.
ReplyDeleteOr W6 flying them from BEG to LCA.
DeleteNo Wizz flights SKP BEG or Tirana BEG. We have for that Dosadan si ko tesne gace. They have closer Thessaloniki for that.
DeleteSKG also has FR flights to PHO. Sounds like a reasonable alternative.
DeleteDoesnt SKG have aegean to Larnaca?
DeletePHO is Phoenix...
DeleteEr no it's Point Hope in Alaska
DeleteUnfortunate
ReplyDeleteCarriers just had not had a break in the last 5 years.
ReplyDeleteFirst Covid, now this war.
Very true.
DeleteWell they had a few years of record revenue and profit.
DeleteThis is not a good sign for upcoming Skopje-Palermo and especially Skopje-Alghero routes.
ReplyDeleteLMAO. You missed that there is a war in the middle east
Deletethe one route that will suffer is Hurghada
Actually this is a good sign for Palermo and Alghero. Wizz Air launched them on purpose this summer because they know that not many people will fly to HRG and also not that many to AYT for two reasons, Antalya is getting more expensive each year and also they are scared that something will happen there as well. That's why many are gonna go to Spain and Italy this summer. So Wizz Air's announcement of Palermo and Alghero came in perfect timing.
Deleteno surprise. two weeks ago macedonian media were full with reports from tourist agencies that people are massively canceling trips to Cyprus amongst other countries like Egypt. Even the National Association of Travel Agencies had to issue a public statement about it to cool the situation down . People are just scared i guess.
ReplyDeleteNow The travel agencies who started to sell holiday packages to Cyprus from Skopje will do what 😂😂
ReplyDeleteand you are laughing?? that there is a war? Says a lot about you, get a life
DeleteThere is no war in Pafos. Wizz still flies to Cyprus. It's just low-yielding markets that have been cut.
Deletestil not a reason to laugh at people scared of war
Deletewill interesting to see the numbers of LCA and Paphos for the next months. Lots of reductions on Wizz side
Delete@11:50 Thanks god we can all have our opinion about things. You are the one judging me here for something which is not true ( i am not happy cuz of the war ) and even if i am thats my problem. Telling me to get a life but u reply to my comment ( which nobody told u or requested that from u ) and u tell me what i should do. That tells a lot about who needs to get a life. Pozdrav
