Low cost carrier Wizz Air will suspend flights from both Skopje and Tuzla to Larnaca for most of the upcoming summer season. The airline introduced operations from Skopje to the Cypriot city on October 28 last year. The route’s two weekly flights will be maintained until April 13, after which they will be suspended until September 21, when they are due to resume twice per week. On the other hand, flights between Tuzla and Larnaca, which are set to be inaugurated on March 31, will operate for just three weeks, until April 18, on a two-weekly basis, after which services will be suspended until September 22.
Both routes were due to be operated by the 239-seat Airbus A321neo aircraft throughout the summer. Cyprus has been impacted by the ongoing war in the Middle East, with a drone strike on a British base on the island in early March sparking a wave of holiday cancellations and prompting a number of airlines to temporarily suspend services. However, booking cancellations have since subsided, with the island’s main tourist season set to begin in late April and early May. Last year was record-breaking for Cyprus’ tourism industry, with more than 4.5 million visitors.
Despite suspending the two routes, Wizz Air is set to operate its largest network yet from both Skopje and Tuzla this summer. During the peak months of July and August, the airline plans to run 1.128 flights from Skopje (including both departures and arrivals), offering close to 270.000 seats on the market per month. This represents an increase of 26.4% in flights and 65% in capacity compared to the same period last year. In Tuzla, Wizz Air will operate 400 flights over the two-month period, marking a 119% increase, while capacity will grow by 156% to approximately 95.600 seats per month.

Actually this is a good sign for Palermo and Alghero. Wizz Air launched them on purpose this summer because they know that not many people will fly to HRG and also not that many to AYT for two reasons, Antalya is getting more expensive each year and also they are scared that something will happen there as well. That's why many are gonna go to Spain and Italy this summer. So Wizz Air's announcement of Palermo and Alghero came in perfect timing.
Deleteno surprise. two weeks ago macedonian media were full with reports from tourist agencies that people are massively canceling trips to Cyprus amongst other countries like Egypt. Even the National Association of Travel Agencies had to issue a public statement about it to cool the situation down . People are just scared i guess.
