NEWS FLASH
Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport handled 731.693 passengers in April, its busiest on record, representing an increase of 7.2% year-on-year. The figure was complemented by a 4% increase in commercial aircraft movements. During the January - April period, the airport welcomed 2.489.499 travellers, up 8.3%, or an additional 191.727 passengers.

For a month without any Middle Eastern flights, achieving 7.2% growth is an amazing result. It surely would have been over 10% if Fly Dubai and Qatar have kept flying and LH not cancelling Munich
ReplyDeleteTrue that. Now from May and June will be much larger growth.
DeleteWhen was CityLine shut? What date?
Delete18th April
DeleteImpressive given the circumstances. Adding almost 200 thousand passengers in the first four months is a good indication annual result will get close to 10 million.
ReplyDeleteWe will go above 10mil. 12 more routes will start this summer
DeleteWe? You mean it
DeleteBravo Air Serbia 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
ReplyDeleteYou mean BEG?
DeleteThe most impressive one is A.jet. WTF.
ReplyDeleteWhy? They basically kicked JU from ESB & ADB and they fly from SAW. They have quite a presence in BEG
DeleteAJet provides good schedule and new aircrafts. I travelled with them recently to BEG, it was a good experience
DeleteAJet has 10 weekly flights, which is not insignificant since they use large narrowbodies.
DeleteIndeed, I mean they have fewer flights than KL but offer more seats. Do they offer connections overall? I heard good things about guys.
DeleteThey do offer connections via Istanbul SAW or Ankara ESB.
DeleteSAW is a horrible place, so overcrowded.
DeleteThats true. Its less than lovely. Personally I dont enjoy transiting Istanbul airport very much.
DeleteUnlike IST with only 1 hr free WiFi, in SAW the Internet access is long&free for transit passengers
DeleteMaybe. But have you experienced transit there in the morning rush. Damn thats not fun.
DeletePlus there is one runway so delays are quite common. Generally I dislike both Istanbul airports
DeleteNot anymore. SAW now has two runways.
DeleteOverall good result. BEG is in a weird place right now. They are ahead of SKG and SOF but still far from TIA, OTP, BUD and PRG. Hopefully once the crisis passes we can go past 10 million. I think we will need another pink A321 for that :)
ReplyDeleteBelgrade has always been in weird spot.
DeleteForeign carriers were way too much reluctant to fly there or still are (AF-BA-Iberia).
But thank god times have changed for the better.
I agree. Def need another pink a321!:)
DeleteMaybe next summer especially if their summer routes do well.
DeleteOne or two more pink elephants will not get BG up to Prague levels. For that a degree of economic growth never seen in Europe would be needed. For Belgrade's size and the country's economy (still smaller than Croatia i believe) Belgrade airport is doing extremely well.
DeleteI meant pink Airbuses 🤣
Delete+1
DeleteNo one said Belgrade should reach Prague tomorrow. However the airport can easily handle 11-13 million.
DeleteYes. 12-13million would be a reasonable long term cieling for the market and airport.
DeleteAs long as JU keeps on bringing in transfers there is no ceiling. Look at KEF and how much larger it is than the home market. BEG can easily grow to 15 million.
Delete@19:10 Belgrade airport used to be below SKG and SOF in terms of passenger numbers, now it's ahead. It was below OTP, BUD and PRG for as long as I remember, so nothing weird about it. Nothing points to BEG being in a weird place now. BEG added 50k passengers in April, both ZAG and SJJ lost passengers.
Delete@21:33 there is a ceiling given the infratsructure is not ideal for expansion. 15 mil, would be nice but it will be the late 2030s
Delete@21:55 although Prague and Bucharest are so far ahead due to a raft of factors. It was head when those countries were poor and isolated. They are not anymore
Delete@00:10 It was already expanded 4 years ago from 16 to 24 bridges. It is currently expanding to 27 bridges. It is easy to add at least 6-7. Sky is the limit.
DeleteIf you say so :) that terminal above 15million would be a right dogs dinner of an operation. But yes there is lots of room for increase into the 2030s.
DeleteBEG is going to have 10M passengers this year! With 10 new JU routes, additional flights to last year, and come back of Gulf carriers the rest of the year is going to be good!
ReplyDeleteI think it will be between 9.8 and 9.9
DeleteMost Gulf carriers are flying half empty to/from Europe. So their return won't make any major impact. Their passenger numbers will still be down on last year.
Delete@21:21 Looooool
DeleteMore than 10 million for sure. AS kicking !!!
Delete@00:07 what
DeleteAnd too add, Nizhny Novgorod flights srarted today.
ReplyDeleteNo mention of that anywhere. Anyone know what the loads are like?
DeleteMaybe because flights started today we will get an article tomorrow
DeleteTrue.
DeletePrecious tables😍 Can we please get tables of Air Serbia destination and number of flights per week👍
ReplyDeleteYou can easily make it
