| A320 to return to Adria’s fleet this summer |
Adria Airways will lease back one of its former Airbus A320 aircraft for the upcoming summer season, which is currently used by Danish Air Transport, “ch-aviation” reports. The jet, registered OY-JRK, was operated by Adria (as S5-AAS) from April 2011 until October 2014, before it was returned to the PAL Phoenix Aircraft Leasing company. The aircraft has the capacity to seat 180 passengers and operates in an all economy class layout. It is expected to enter service for Adria in April and has been leased until the end of the summer season in October. In the short-term, Adria plans to wet lease several A320-family aircraft in 2015, while a total of five or six jets will join the fleet by 2016. The Slovenian carrier recently leased a Bombardier CRJ700 from Lufthansa CityLine, which has since been stored at Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport. The aircraft will be stationed at the airline’s newest base in Lodz in Poland this summer.
In line with its fleet restructuring, the Slovenian carrier will phase out its two remaining CRJ200s from scheduled service by March. The airline will scrap one of the jets while the other will be used for charter flights. Meanwhile, Adria has sold and leased back two Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft in an attempt to stabilise its finances and pay off debt. Earlier, Adria’s CEO, Mark Anžur, said the carrier’s fleet will consist of sixteen CRJs and Airbuses by 2020. Adria has been a long time Bombardier customer, ordering its first aircraft from the Canadian plane manufacturer back in 1997. Adria Tehnika, which was once a subsidiary of the Slovenian carrier, but is now an independent company, serves as the regional maintenance centre for Bombardier jets.
The Airbus A320 has been a staple of Adria’s fleet since May 1989. The airline ordered five aircraft of the same type in 1985 with the first arriving almost 26 years ago, still operating under the Yugoslav flag. The jet delivered to Adria was the first to be powered by IAE engines and the first Airbus A320 ever to be registered in Yugoslavia. The A320 to be leased this summer entered commercial service 21.5 years ago. It is likely to be utilised primarily for charter flights to Greece, Egypt and Turkey.
Maybe Adria should give a lesson or two to JU on how to efficiently lease aircraft. ;)
ReplyDeleteThe summer seasons starts in less than two months and there is still no trace of new aircraft arriving or of their summer schedule being finalised.
JU will be having some problems this year. The impending bankruptcy of the country, and close oversight by the IMF will mean there are no under the table subsidies anymore such as free fuel, no landing fees. Their leasing issues will be the least of their problems.

DeleteThen Serbia can kiss it's deal with the IMF goodbye, a broke country cannot give subsidies.
DeleteThe government is not handing out cash, they are just giving more favourable deals to it's airline. The IMF won't even care about JU, there are far bigger fish to fry.
DeleteThe government is absorbing debt through these "favorable deals" which amount to millions a year. This is exactly what the IMF are looking for, not to mention it is breech of the open skies agreement. As I said before it will be a interesting year for JU.

Do you think the arabs are going to cough up for JU's losses? think again.

DeleteYes I am, the question has to be asked, how much did these record figures cost the average serb? The airport counts JU's unpaid fee's in its revenue so their record profits exist on paper only same system the government uses.
DeleteIt's more than 50% cheaper to fly ZAG-BEG-SVO than to fly BEG-SVO? Either JU is shafting the travelers in BEG or someone is covering these costs, the arabs wouldn't be so that leaves the government or the airport. It's amazing what a bit of creative accounting can do.
Let me answer the question, these record figures cost NOTHING the average Serb. Don't see why it's so difficult for you to understand.
DeleteYes, it is cheaper because those are promotional fares which are going to be there until JU establishes itself on the Zagreb market. Just like with any other market the fares will eventually go up. Also, JU has huge discounts in ZAG so it can afford to lower its fares.
Also, JU is cheaper than SU so...

Red je da i zlurade ogreje toplo sunce. Sto pominjete IMF, nebrinite ukoliko niste umisljeni da ste sami neka institucija.

According to Oslobodjenje newspaper government of FB&H is ready to save BH Airlines again. What a whole bunch of criminals who are draining public money for their own advantages. BH Airlines will set up team of "experts" from BHA and "expert team" from government to find the way to save company again. One of the solution presented by "expert" group was to unite Sarajevo airport and BHA as they are both public enterprises, lol. Lets take down SJJ who made 3,2 million euros profit last year by adding incompetent BHA who makes on average 10 million euros loss every year. One and only option for BHA is to close down ASAP, with every day going by they are making big dent in budget of government who doesn't have money for basics such are pensions, medical care etc....and btw I am bosnian and I was supporting them but enough is enough. The company ought to be saved but not the guys that run both the country and the company. Some other ones are needed to turn it around. That would be the only way...in my humble opinion.

DeletePa nije bila prica u oktobru 2014, da je Airbus 320 reg. S5-AAS sa 22 godine prestar i da se kvari i da ga zato vise ne budu imali iznajmljenog. Sada ga opet iznajmljuju :)? Nisu mogli iznajmit neki jos airbus koji nije punoljetan :D
