Air Serbia has announced the introduction of seven new year-round routes and two seasonal destinations, which will be introduced from June onwards. The national airline will commence year-round flights from Belgrade to Kiev, Madrid, Barcelona, Rijeka, Krasnodar, Helsinki and Cairo, as well as seasonal operations to Nice and Zadar. In addition to the new routes, Air Serbia will add more depth to its network with an additional one weekly frequency to Zurich (eighteen per week), Paris (double daily) and Dubrovnik (daily). The carrier faces no direct competition on any of its new services with exception to Barcelona, which is served seasonally by Vueling. The new additions will also require the Serbian airline to take on more aircraft, although it is still to specify its fleet plans.
As a result of the expansion, Air Serbia's route network to Croatia will grow to six cities, two of which will be served year-round (Zagreb and Rijeka). The carrier will also resume operations to Kiev, which were operated seasonally during the summer of 2016. Furthermore, the airline returns with scheduled flights to Spain after some twenty years and to Egypt after fifteen years. Initially, Air Serbia planned to commence flights to Cairo in 2014 but cancelled such plans due to deteriorating security in the country at the time. On the other hand, Nice will mark the airline's second destination in France, while Helsinki will be served out of Belgrade for the first time. Krasnodar, in southern Russia, becomes the carrier's third gateway to the country and was initially to launch in 2017, but such plans never materialised. Air Serbia currently codeshares on Aeroflot's flights between Moscow and Krasnodar.

Air Serbia's CEO, Duncan Naysmith, said, "We are very proud to be able to connect the Serbian capital to new cities, adding breadth and depth to our network by providing our passengers the choice to choose from 49 direct destinations, which the national carrier will serve from June 2019". The company added, "The expansion of Air Serbia's international network represents a step forward in the Serbian national carrier's expansion plans". The airline recently confirmed that Airbus has returned a cash deposit made by its predecessor JAT Yugoslav Airlines for eight Airbus A319 jets, amounting to 23.5 million dollars.

Very clever move also to boost Russian tourists not only from Moscow but Krasnodar Okrug region.
KRR has a metro population of almost 1 million people meaning it´s smaller than BEG and bigger than ZAG for instance.
Also very clever to add more Croatian airports, and for FR, the arrival of JU in ZAD will be very bad news.
CAI will be the best selling destination on my opinion. Egypt is extremely popular for Yugoslavs as it´s still cheap and affordable.
It is a big disappointment that RAK was not included in the list. Hopefully in the next massive expansion.
Well done ASL, well done BEG, well done Serbia!
Huge. Svaka čast. Bogami, dobar udarac i Adriji i Croatiji. Sve feeding linije sada imaju bitno više opcija iz Beograda (Skopje, Sarajevo, Dubrovnik, Split, Pula, Zadar, Rijeka, Banja Luka, Podgorica, Tivat, Bucharest, Sofija, Atena, Thessaloniki, Tirana idr.).
I naravno, napisat ću posebnu analizu o ovome.
Do you have any proof for that or are you just smoking something? Looks like you don't understand what was published by EC paper. Seattle has service to LHR but Amazon and Microsoft didn't move global HQs to London, it wasn't about that but making it easier to have local presence there. They don't and won't have local offices in Mostar or Leskovac. Air Serbia long haul flights to USA or China could help establish local presence of international companies in BEG and not some other regional city. JFK route wasn't about American tourists, the other two mentioned facts are about services sector and GDP, for example cargo opportunities for exporting perishable and time sensitive items. If you have issues with those facts, take with EU and other sources and explain how they are wrong when in fact all long haul is only about the prestige, or just keep smoking.
This isn't about Amazon moving global HQ to Belgrade if Air Serbia starts BEG-SEA. LO longhaul expansion at WAW helped global companies establish local presence in Poland and further expansion of Air Serbia to Asia and North America will help BEG in a similar fashion. BEG-JFK is making more money during summer and losing less during winter so overall it is much better. They extended to 6pw last summer and once they reach daily it will be a lot more profit than prestige.
What you wrote is your opinion, which has nothing to do with reality and with facts. Calling for filters and naming people ridiculous because they don't think what you think is rude, and there is where we can call for filters. And so sorry to inform you that the Big Bang for people from Rijeka did not happen in 1991, despite all your chauvinist attempts to change it, this one included. Cheers!
