The Lufthansa Group’s low cost carrier Eurowings is significantly expanding its flight schedule from June 2020 and will return to Bosnia and Herzegovina, while growing its presence in Croatia, albeit at reduced frequencies. In its schedule up to June 20, the carrier plans to restart flights between Cologne and Sarajevo from June 2 with one weekly service. Although Bosnia and Herzegovina’s airports are still closed for commercial traffic, they are expected to be reopened from June 1. Mostar Airport’s General Manager, Marin Raspudić, said there was little chance the airline would resume its seasonal operations from Dusseldorf and Stuttgart this year.
The budget carrier, which has maintained flights from Cologne to Zagreb throughout most of the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic, will add services to the country’s coast by resuming flights from Stuttgart, Hamburg and Dusseldorf to Split. Its Cologne - Zagreb service will be reduced from two to one per week during the month. Operations from Hamburg and Dusseldorf to Rijeka, from Dusseldorf to Pula and from Cologne to Zadar will restart once per week on June 20. Most of Eurowings’ other destinations in the region are scheduled to resume on June 20 and are yet to be confirmed by the airline. This includes its planned new Stuttgart - Belgrade service. Flights to Kosovo, initially scheduled to resume in June, have now been pushed back to July. Eurowings has been operating numerous repatriation flights to Pristina over the past two months.
Eurowings’ CEO, Jens Bischof, said, “We can feel the growing desire of people to travel again and relax and enjoy their holidays after a long period of travel bans. This is exactly what we are now making possible with our extended summer schedule – reliably, safely and with all due caution. Travelling, whether private or professional, will be possible again”. Eurowings’ parent company Lufthansa will not be resuming any of its destinations in the former Yugoslavia before June 15.
Finally something to SJJ. I think they will be the first airline to resume flights.

DeleteOn a more serious note, seems like things are looking up for SJJ. Eurowings on June 2 followed by JU on June 4th. At least things are starting to move in the right direction. Any and all connections are needed at this point.
Wizz Air will also probably restart BUD-SJJ straight away.

DeleteThose dreamers are present everywhere which is why I reminded you of the EZE-ZAG example from a few weeks ago.Then again, I also remember someone mentioning Singapore Airlines launching SIN-ZAG or Delta launching ATL-ZAG. Like you said, so many dreamers on this blog.
DeleteYesterday someone was mentioning flights from HKG to BEG by Cathay Pacific, SIN to BEG by Singapore Airlines, EZE to BEG by Aerolineas Argentinas and so on. Some people obviously do not understand that this market (ex-Yu) is really insignificant for most of the mayor airlines.

The route is subsidized for year round flights but that didn't stop them turning it into seasonal and flying with Q400s instead of Airbuses. Seems like they don't care.
DeleteI guess for OMO it's still better than nothing as without them they would be in serious trouble. Unfortunately OU is flying more or less empty and they offer limited connections in ZAG. Many destinations don't even connect or they connect one way and then 12 hours on the way back.

DeleteI am worried about silence at OS. They keep on moving the take off date more and more, I think fifth time now. Lufthansa and the AT government are fighting while the EU is indecisive on how it wants to proceed. I fear the longer they want the worst it will be after. Their eventual demise will affect all ex-YU airports, each and every one of them!

DeleteYes. But ultimately I think their CEO is doing a very poor job. He worries about demand. Yet demand won't pick up for months. In fact there will probably be more demand now with people wanting to go home than in a month.

DeleteWell look at JU, Sunday flight to VIE will be increased to A319 because of extra demand. If OS was around then JU would most likely still operate the ATR. Also Wizz is resuming flights from VIE and they are going to steal and eat their cake. By the time OS comes back the market would have moved on.

DeleteEurowings PR team should really be more careful. In their press release they say how they will also resume flights to Tivat even though they suspended Tivat months ago and of course on their site Tivat is not even offered as a destination.
