The Lufthansa Group has revised its schedule for the month of June by adding more services to cities in the former Yugoslavia and elsewhere due to stronger than expected demand. Under its latest revision, Germany’s Lufthansa will return to Belgrade, Austrian to Zagreb and Swiss to Pristina. In addition to the previously announced flights from Frankfurt to Ljubljana, Dubrovnik and Pula, Lufthansa will reinstate operations from Munich to Split and Dubrovnik starting June 20, followed by services to Belgrade from June 23. The German carrier will also add flights from Frankfurt to Split from June 20. Lufthansa plans to have 90% of its short haul network reinstated by September. There will be 102 destinations from Frankfurt and 88 from Munich. Lufthansa expanded its service concept on June 1 with all customers now receiving a disinfecting wipe prior to each flight. Business class passengers on short haul operations will once again be able to choose from a selection of beverages and the meal service has also been reinstated.
Austrian Airlines is adding more flights to its network ahead of its service resumption next week. In addition to the previously announced flights to Belgrade, Dubrovnik, Pristina, Sarajevo, Skopje and Split, Austrian will also reintroduce operations to Zagreb on June 29 and Podgorica on June 30. The carrier has now rescheduled its planned new service between Vienna and Zadar for July 6, however, bookings for the route remain closed at this point. Meanwhile, Swiss will reintroduce flights from Geneva to Pristina on June 24, complementing its flights to Belgrade, which are resuming today. Swiss plans to return to about 85% of the destinations it served before the corona crisis in autumn, with about one-third of its capacity on these routes.
Eurowings is also significantly expanding its flight program for both business and leisure travellers and plans to fly to 80% of its destinations again in the course of the summer. The carrier noted that following the lifting of Germany’s international travel warning, interest in holiday destinations in Croatia “is growing by leaps and bounds”. As a result, Eurowings will be putting 30% to 40% of its flight capacity back into the air in July, with the main focus on flights from Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Cologne/Bonn.
The Lufthansa Group has said it will be reintroducing routes and updating its schedule on an almost daily basis, which is why interested travellers should check the websites of the respective airlines within the group for the latest network modifications.
Good news but the frequencies are still very low for all cities.

DeleteProbably many transfers from US. There are also people who just want to fly with Swiss/Star Alliance and they are usually more affordable too. Also who knows how many people have already booked long ago flights with Swiss for these dates (early booking is very common with diaspora passengers). Instead of 4 daily flights there are now 4 weekly so I'm guessing many people were rebooked.

DeleteOne reason to remove the flight is that they will have to give up on some slots in FRA and MUC to get state help. Don't say this is the case here, but as example.
DeleteSlot requirement for aid is a joke, they have to remove 12 daily slots. This will not impact LH operations in any way especially since those slots will be exclusively for a new EU airline that hasn't operated flights into MUC/FRA in the past 12 months. What a joke but Germany runs the EU so they can do as they please.

INI was a failure because of W6. They have very cheap flights to MLH and LX was very expensive to ZRH.
A340 is not that much larger than A321, they sent it because of fleet shortage, same way OS sends its B777 to various places around Europe in summer.

Had a booked flight JFK-MUC-SJJ on July 1st which they just canceled this morning. Calling them now to find out why as it was in the system when I booked last week. Anybody know?
ReplyDeleteThey are still in the process of adding and removing flights. It's possible they will put it back in the system in a few days. I will give you an example what happened with MUC-BEG. First there were no flights, then they put them from 1 July, then they moved them to 15 June, then they removed them completely and now they put them for 23 June.

Maybe LJU is the real winner because of JP's demise and also the resumption of SN.
