FlyBosnia took delivery of an Airbus A320 aircraft this week as it prepares to retore operations after almost a year. The jet in question, registered TC-OBU, is 25 years old and was previously operated by Onur Air. The 180-seat aircraft bears the carrier’s revised livery with larger FlyBosnia titles on the fuselage and more colour on the tail. The airline last operated scheduled flights in March 2020, before the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, and has since run cargo flights and summer charters. It retired its sole aircraft, an A319, in late August of last year. The carrier played an important role during the height of the global lockdowns, when it operated a number of charters from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia to China, transporting medical supplies and equipment.
Commenting on the aircraft’s arrival, FlyBosnia said, “We would like to thank our team for an astonishing effort over the last few months. It was difficult and worrisome at times but we prevailed to overcome all obstacles. FlyBosnia will revolutionise air transport in the Balkans by providing value for money, taking into account the safety, health and satisfaction of our customers. FlyBosnia is known for its affordable ticket prices, motivating staff and professionalism. It is the main bridge between the Balkans and the Middle East”.
Speaking to EX-YU Aviation News recently, FlyBosnia’s CEO, Haris Čoloman, said, “FlyBosnia plans to acquire four Airbus A320 aircraft by the end of 2021. The majority of flights will be scheduled. As we saw last year, Bosnia and Herzegovina also requires a large volume of charters, so we will also focus on that segment of business. FlyBosnia plans to have an aircraft stationed at Sarajevo Airport, Mostar and Tuzla”. The airline has already concluded contracts to operate summer charters from Sarajevo to Turkey and Egypt this summer. FlyBosnia is also expected to restore scheduled flights to a number of markets in the Middle East as they begin to open up for international travel. The final line-up of destinations is expected to be announced soon, with the airline preparing to launch its new-look website.

DeleteLet's see what destinations are open. Like the article sys quite a few countries in the Middle East have reopened requiring only PCR test - Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Dubai... But Saudi their main market is still closed.
ReplyDeleteI think 98% of their passengers on Mid East routes are actually residents of those countries going to Bosnia for holiday, so the entry restrictions don't make such an impact on them.
DeleteYes but many Middle Eastern countries impose same restrictions for their own citizens upon return (quarantine, tests etc)
DeleteApparently its going to be Amman, Bahrein, Muscat, Jeddah, Riyadh and Doha but I have my doubts. Especially because Oman is no longer allowing any foreigners into the country, Qatar requires two week quarantine at a hotel which you need to pay and Saudi Arabia is still closed.

DeleteBiH and MNE have been been proactive and trying to work on their airports by launching new routes, working on their carriers but about Slovenia?? It is shocking that almost all the rest of the countries have tried at least to work on something. The latest route was a seasonal weekly service to BWK and that's it!
