Belgrade flight delayed four hours over face masks

NEWS FLASH

Swiss flight LX1418 from Zurich to Belgrade departed with a four and a half hour delay last Friday after four passengers refused to wear their face masks on board. The aircraft, an Airbus A321neo, started taxiing to the runway in Zurich after which the crew informed the captain that four travellers were refusing to wear their masks, a rule brought in as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. “Some people became a nuisance to other customers and refused to follow the crew members' instructions while on board. As a result, the customers involved were asked to disembark”, Swiss said. It added, “We expect all of our guests to comply with corporate Covid policies when they choose to fly with us and act accordingly when they don't. They are then issued a written notice if they refuse to do so. If that doesn't work, the police are called”. Four police officers were called in and arrested the four uncooperative passengers. The aircraft finally departed Zurich four and half hours later.

No they didn't. All passengers had to leave the plane in Zurich and then board again when they arrested these idiots.

And they likely had to do that because crew duty times were exceeded.

When pax deplane, another round of safety and security checks need to be conducted prior to reboarding pax. Time for this varies, usually 10-30 minutes depending on the size of the aircraft. If a bag is left behind, this slows down this procedure. There will always be someone who doesn't follow instructions just like the article has presented.

If crew needed to be replaced, a new set of crew might not always be waiting at the airport on stand by. New paperwork for the new crew compliment is then needed prior to departure which takes time.

Police could of also asked the crew to provide details of the incident, which isnt a quick procedure either.

Lots of little things that can prolong the departure. Procedures are put in place, alot because of the crazies ruining things, just like these individuals in the article.

Imagine calling the police over some people not wearing masks. So much over-exaggeration over nothing.
I flew with LH about a month ago FRA-EDI and there were people with their masks down and the crew did not care.

And that's a problem and you're a part of it.

Rules are rules, and by purchasing a ticket you agree to the terms and conditions the airline sets. Not wearing a mask continues on a long line of things pax fight the cabin crew on. Cabin crew don't create the rules but have to enforce company and/or government policy.

Police should get more involved in removing people who find it their 'democratic right' to create a public spectacle just to get their own way. Don't like the rules, don't travel.

Proven that these masks are useless. Also what is the point of wearing them then taking them off when you eat/ drink. This is supreme BS!

  6. Whether people hate the rules or not, they need to follow them. Why are people so hell bent on breaking rules because they think they’re better.

Rules are rules and on an airplane you can't discuss them.

In regards of Covid-19: The way it got handled, it's scandalous and it is mainly a huge profit booster for the pharma industry as well as the tech industry. I wont go into details, but before people panic, they might should analyze some figures and put them in comparison with the total population or the total deaths per year. And they should know that in Switzerland 96% of all the deaths had a serious pre-illness and that 90.6% of all deaths were at age 70+ (source BAG)

I will not comment the idiots who denied wearing a mask but I must comment that Swiss have become notorious for a slow, rigid, prejudiced and complicated company, master creators of fuss when it's least needed.
