NEWS FLASH

South America’s largest carrier, LATAM, which acts as the national airline for several countries, including Chile and Brazil, has expanded its reach into Croatia with a second codeshare service. Following the introduction of its designator code and flight number onto Iberia’s operations between Madrid and Zagreb, the airline has now also started codesharing on the Spanish carrier’s service from Madrid to Dubrovnik. South America provides Croatia with a notable number of tourists, with a significant group of South Americans, particularly from Argentina and Chile, tracing their origins back to Croatia. Based on OAG data, Buenos Aires is the busiest unserved destination from Zagreb in South America, followed by Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro.

It was about time for this due to massive Croatian diaspora living in Chile, but also the demands for Croatian citizenship that come in huge numbers from South American countries. Direct flights from Santiago are also expected in the future

It started in the 1800s. Most emigrated from Dalmatia for work. The current President of Chile is of Croatian decent
