NEWS FLASH

Ljubljana Airport is introducing Assaia's TurnaroundControl solution to optimise turnaround performance and gain valuable insights for future deployments at other Fraport-operated airports. Ljubljana Airport aims to take its ground handling division to the next level by leveraging artificial intelligence and shared data collaboration. Assaia's TurnaroundControl will gather objective data from every ground handling process, identifying bottlenecks, process dependencies, and discrepancies between planned and actual times. The ultimate goal is to streamline all ground handling processes and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) through high-quality operational data available on a 24/7 basis. Using cameras and computer vision technology, TurnaroundControl ensures real-time monitoring of critical processes, regardless of weather conditions. Any deviation from planned time stamps triggers automatic alerts, allowing for swift intervention and resolution. The system will also assist Ljubljana Airport in accurately predicting off-block time, generating real-time alerts, and enabling proactive resource management for improved on-time performance and reduced ground delays. Ultimately, these enhancements will contribute to an improved passenger experience.

    That is good to hear becouse in the last days there were quite a few A330s sent from Turkish and there were big delays exactly from these reasons. The ground handling took too long

      Well yes but even Aeroflot used A330 sometimes so this is nothing new. If aircrafts like this are coming to Lju this issue needs to be resolved

      That's not true. Aicrafts were late from Istanbul and this is the reason for most of the delays delays out of Ljubljana

      Turkish is sending A330 when they cancel a flight previous day. Handling A330 is not a problem, as the type is not unfamilliar to the airport. ANA used to fly with Dreamliners and even 777….and please note that plural for aircraft is - aircraft, not aircrafts as aircraft is plural noun

      The main problem of delays was that the LJU Airport does not have A330 TK containers therefore everything needs to be unloaded in the sorting facility first before new things can be put into the same container. Normally this wouldn't take as much time if there were TK containers stationed at LJU.

    Anyone who’s ever waited for luggage at LJU will know this is critical.

      Must been long ago - one rarely have to wait for luggage in LJU, perhaps you mix it with BEG?

      @13:43

      Had it a few times this year as well. It took them over 30 minutes to get everyone’s luggage from a Dash8 or a CRJ onto the luggage belt. These are small planes and LJU is small. They should’ve done better.

      I was flying several times from and to LJU. I can imagine you don't like Fraport, but let's be honest - comparing to other Airports they are doing a good job

    Well, LJU is a good testing airport for that. Almost no traffic, so you can test easily test new software. Even if something goes wrong, no passenger will be lost.

    This what they call big innovation is the classic job of a station manger or supervisor. After many airlines fired most of them now they invest millions in AI. But the best AI is worthless if there is nobody to do the job (like lack of loading staff)…..
