NEWS FLASH

Qatar Airways will introduce an additional three weekly flights between Doha and Belgrade for a total of ten weekly services starting December 23. The new operations will complement the carrier's daily flights and run each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, departing Doha at 15.45 local time and arriving in Belgrade at 19.20, before commencing its return journey at 21.40, arriving back in the Qatari capital at 4.40 the following morning. The added frequencies will be maintained by the Airbus A320 aircraft. It marks the first time Qatar Airways has operated ten weekly flights to Belgrade over the winter season. It previously ran ten weekly rotations during the peak of the 2019 summer season.

Connects nicely to JU flights to LJU and TGD at 20.20 from Belgrade.

Yes, but you connect in BEG onto nothing, the midnight wave starts four hours later. The times are perfect for the QR network, however I just don't see how JU will develop its codeshare with QR.

Well I think QR is focused on its own business. JU codeshares are generally useless and expensive.

They are not expensive on QR. Their daily flight fits perfectly with JU in both directions.

These flights come as a nice addition to BEG, but I believe the schedule could have been better to facilitate more connecting passengers in both directions and at both airports. Arrival to BEG at 19.20 doesn't leave much options, neither 04.40 at DOH as that time of the day is usually quiet at Hamad. If the flights were moved by 3 hours ahead in BEG there would be plenty of connecting options, just like if the flights were arriving to DOH around midnight enabling plenty of connection to the east Asia and Africa. Connecting to these destinations require long 8+ hours layovers at DOH in both directions, which puts TK, and FZ+EK much ahead of their QR competition.

Qatar's biggest wave of departures is between 6AM and 9AM. This schedule perfectly fits that.

6 am to 9 am departures at Hamad are European or Mediterranean destinations mostly and some North American. There are fewer departures to Asia and Africa when compared to midnight to 3 am wave.

    Why don’t they use B787 instead of A320 ?

This shows me that when there is a demand and profit the airline will find an extra plane to fly the route, in regards to the expansion of Qatar in the region and the topic which was posted few days ago, when other airports are hoping for Qatar to come and launch flights

Combined number of seats offered between BEG and ME (DOH+AUH+DXB) didn't significantly change compared to days when EY flew double daily to BEG. Compare that to growth from BEG to some other areas such as Spain+Portugal over the same time period and it's clear BEG to ME growth is lagging.

What can be done to significantly increase it?

With Belgrade and Zagreb having the same frequency and capacity this winter it would be interesting to compare both with their statistics.
I would like to read an article about that by the Ex Yu viation blog. next summer.
I guess that Zagreb will have a little better loadfactor because of less competition.
