NEWS FLASH

Construction of a rail link between Pristina’s city cnetre and the airport is expected to begin this year, according to authorities. The project, which has been delayed for over a decade, has now received funding from the European Union, according to the Minister for Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure, Liburn Aliu, and work on the line should begin this year. The project is expected to involve the rehabilitation of an existing railway line in Pristina, construction of a missing link from the existing line to the terminal and construction of a railway terminal within the airport. No timeline has been given as to when construction could begin this year or how long the project will take to be completed.

Exactly my thought! They had two lines just few years ago with frequencies of 2 trains a day. Total of 4 trains departing Pristina and 4 arriving in. One of them was international connection to Skopje. Today they have only Pristina - Peje, twice a day. No international link. No trains to the south in general. No plans regarding any. So yes... Budapest doesn't have train connection to the airport, even though train is absolutely major way of public transport between cities. So I don't expect much from their airport connection.

Similar thing happened in Georgia as well, where they actually have some railways and new trains operating between Tbilisi and Batumi. They also got a lot of cash to build Kutaisi airport train station. They did so.. now, there is ONE TRAIN per day from Tbilisi to Batumi, which stops at Kutaisi airport train station.

So, about Kosovo... Are they gonna turn rails a bit, steal millions and make these two trains a day to stop and Pristina Airport train station or are they gonna build serious line of at least 1 train per hour ... I doubt.

Yes. Rapid exit and runway extension are finished. Now they are adding 4 new bus gates. They have also added self service check in and self service baggage drops.

The railway track between Pristina and Tirana for high-speed trains has started construction.

That's not true. Durres-Tirana is being upgraded, but that has nothing to do with the railroad to Kosovo.

I doubt works will begin this year.

PRN Airport will eventually be connected with a railroad, but only as a part of of the railroad project between Durres and Pristina Dry Port..That project is still in its intial phase and will take years to be finalized...
