NEWS FLASH

Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport has launched a public procurement process for expert supervision of construction works as part of the second phase of the terminal building expansion. The project comprises two subphases: 2.1 and 2.2. The current procurement concerns Subphase 2.1, which, as outlined last week includes the extension of the C concourse (gates C15–C17), covering a total area of approximately 5.800 square meters. Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025 and be completed in the first half of 2027.

According to the project documentation, “The facility is intended to serve as a waiting area and provide access to boarding/disembarkation gates. The ground floor is mostly open-plan, supported by a reinforced concrete frame with vertical circulation cores for staircases and evacuation elevators. A section of the ground floor is designated as a technical area, forming an independent spatial and functional unit. The remainder of the ground level will be used for airport service road access. The first floor is organised as an extended passenger corridor, continuing directly from the concourse built in the previous phase, forming a seamless spatial unit. In addition to the main corridor, it includes waiting areas and commercial zones arranged in an open-space layout. Three gates will be available for boarding via airbridges - C15, C16 and C17 - each equipped with its own boarding checkpoint. Arriving passengers will use the same gates but will immediately be directed to the vertical communication cores leading to the second floor. The second floor features a corridor that guides arriving and transfer passengers to the terminal’s transfer point. Unlike the first floor, this corridor has no additional facilities such as waiting areas or retail units”.

Bids for the supervision contract must be submitted by August 12.

I'm curious if this is going to be enough in terms of expecting more than million passengers per month in EXPO months. Sounds like modest expansion.

Who's is seriously expecting that one million foreign visitors PER MONTH will be flying to Belgrade to visit the EXPO?
It is not happening, not even close. So why would they build a massive expansion just to have it siting idle?

Total Visitors: Over 3.9 million visitors attended the Astana Expo.
Duration: The Expo was open for three months, from June 10 to September 10.
Monthly Breakdown: While a precise monthly breakdown isn't available in the provided search results, the peak attendance likely occurred during the summer months when the weather was more favorable.
I guess you are predecting that less people will visit Belgrade Expo, which is in the heart of Europe....

^ these are total visitors to expo ground. They include locals from the entire country that will visit and regional visitors who will come by bus and car. These are not the number of additional passengers at the airport.

Belgrade Expo will be larger than Astana’s, more exibitors and more visitors. So, it’s expected 4.5 million. At least 2/3 will come flying. And than add regular passengers who flies every summer: gastos coming home, regular tourists not related to Expo, Serbian tourists traveling to vacation, transfer passengers using JU network… that will be more than a million a month surely, if the system can auppyit at all

How exactly did you come to the conclusion that the majority of people visiting the EXPO will be foreigners? Almost always in this type of events most people visiting are locals.
I can see millions of Serbs from all over the country visiting it but you can be sure that there won't be 3 million foreign visitors coming by air to see the EXPO.

Yes, it's true, it is the same at many airports, several times bigger than BEG. The only difference is that they have multiple corridors long like C pier at BEG, or longer, not just one. You can't park all the planes next to the nearest gate at the same time; some of them must be parked some distance away. You are probably one of those who always try to park their car next to the entrance of the shop or restaurant and complain if they need to walk 100m.

Will these new gates be widebody ones or the one's for narrowbody airplanes?
3 wide bodies gates are needed and located at the end of the concourse with some dedicated duty-free and coffee shops would make a huge difference for the airport.
