NEWS FLASH
British Airways commenced a new seasonal summer service between London Heathrow and Tivat yesterday, marking its entry into the Montenegrin market. Flights will be maintained three times per week until September 26. It marks the resumption of operations between Heathrow and Tivat after exactly twenty years, with Jat Airways being the last carrier to maintain service between the two airports. The inaugural flight, operated by the Airbus A320neo aircraft, was almost completely full.
British Airways Senior Network Planning Manager Sam Capron said, “The United Kingdom remains an important source market for tourism. This route further strengthens that connection by making it easier for British travellers to discover Montenegro’s natural beauty, rich heritage and warm hospitality. With direct flights from London to Tivat, we are opening the door to the Adriatic coast, supporting tourism development and delivering tangible value to the local economy and community”. The CEO of operator Airports of Montenegro, Roko Tolić, added, “This is truly a landmark day for Airports of Montenegro and the culmination of our efforts to take Montenegro’s air connectivity to the next level. The strength and significance of the British Airways brand, together with our new connection through the airline to Heathrow, one of Europe’s largest and busiest aviation hubs, will bring major benefits both to the citizens of Montenegro and to the country’s tourism industry, which gains strong support and an important new dimension to its offering. I sincerely believe this opportunity will be fully embraced and utilised to its fullest potential”.
