Flydubai to Sarajevo from April

Sarajevo to be linked with Dubai soon

Following last week’s announcement from Emirates Group CEO, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, that Flydubai will launch flights to Sarajevo, the airline now confirms its services to the Bosnian capital will begin in April. As the “Aviokarta.net” portal reports, flights from Dubai will operate twice per week. As a result, the two cities will be connected with a scheduled air link for the first time. Sarajevo becomes Flydubai’s third destinations in the former Yugoslavia, after Belgrade and Skopje. “Flydubai is doing good business and we are planning on launching two weekly flights from Sarajevo which will free up capacity on our Belgrade flights. As a result, next year we most likely won’t have the need to increase frequencies”, the airline’s Belgrade office tells “Aviokarta.net”.

The low cost airline is content with its current passenger loads on flights to and from the former Yugoslavia. Flights to Skopje, which launched in October, were proposed after the airline recorded a significant number of passengers from Macedonia using its service from Belgrade. The airline will be operating up to two flights per day over the next two weeks to the Serbian capital, with most flights sold out. Almost half of the passengers using Flydubai’s services in the former Yugoslavia are transit passengers, most of which continue on to Australia. The majority of Serbian passengers use the service to transfer on to flights to the Maldives and Kathmandu while Macedonians, besides Australia, also head to Afghanistan.

Sarajevo Airport was once no stranger to flights to the Middle East. In the late 1980s JAT Yugoslav Airlines operated direct services from Sarajevo to Baghdad, Amman and Damascus. This summer the airport was served by regular charter flights from Kuwait City and Beirut. The Kuwait service, operated by Gryphon Airlines, was extremely successful and is expected to resume next summer as well.

Lol read the KLM news need better english and history

The Royal Airline Company for the Netherlands & Colonies was established on October 7, 1919. After the Second World War, the airline’s name was changed to Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V. (KLM Royal Dutch Airlines).

((((was established on October 7, 1919. After the Second World War))))

meant to be After the first world war

There is a DOT after 1919. After the second world war refers to the name change, not to the establishment of the company.

Great News for Sarajevo, even though I will be a lot happier when I see the flights in the GDS system.

I agree with Anonymous at 10:39. A period makes a big difference in this sentence. The description from KLM is just fine.

Anonymous at 12:01, don't be so quick to judge, you are wrong in this case.

This news was already posted before by some Aerologic guy. He said main destinations besides Australia were Colombo and Kathmandu, not Male where FZ doesn't fly to yet.

  4. Anonymous12:36

Isn't it more economical for FZ to fly only to one city in the region instead of 3 and pick up all the passengers there? Or they hope to be better able to compete with TK that way, by offering direct lines to minor cities?
Cause frankly i don't think FZ should have ventured anywhere else in the Balkans than BEG and OTP, SKG perhaps, but SKP, SJJ, it somehow just doesn't sounds right. Anyway, i really don't expect SJJ to work as well as SKP for FZ.

The funny thing is that BEG is still the cheapest place to fly to DXB in the region, starting from 480$ round-trip, i wouldn't have expected that. FZ however have gone wild on their fares to Belgrade, they're more expensive than QR.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous19:47

And how do you expect someone from Sarajevo to get to BEG? Taka a 6-8 bus ride? Jat? kind of defeats the purpose.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous20:44

I expect them to do it the same way they've been doing it until now.

    4. Anonymous21:01

They will do that this year when EK bring in the "big sucker to BEG
      "!

  5. Anonymous12:47

Among fierce competition with TK and soon Pegasus, operating thrice more flights than JU to the city, can we expect Jat to drop Istanbul completely? Is Jat carrying any transit passengers from IST to Western Europe?

May seem like but jat will gain back on IST as soon as qatar runs over TK.

I really do not understand the FZ fare policy but SKP-KTM for e650 and BEG_KTM for e500 will make Macedonians use other airlines or use BEG airport

  7. Anonymous13:11

I'm sure fly Dubai will pull out of Belgrade soon! The fares are cheap cos ticket sales are slow. Sarajevo is a more appropiate for fly Dubai to operate to!

Qatar Airways is cheaper than FlyDubai from Belgrade and doing quite well... I don't think there is place in Sarajevo for TK, PC and FZ. In Sarajevo you will have higher fares with FlyDubai than from Belgrade, making it worth the trip to the ancient capital.

"I'm sure fly Dubai will pull out of Belgrade soon! The fares are cheap cos ticket sales are slow."

      - Right, that is why flights are sold-out and FlyDubai is going double-daily to BEG for the next two weeks pretty much.

FZ wanted to come to PRN cause that's where the money is (with many NGO's and govt. officials whose company pays for the ticket) but Air Arabia was smarter and they did it first. Hence, as a condolence prize, they launch SKP and SJJ, which might easily end in a failure. The reason why passengers from the both cities were flying out of Belgrade is not just the price but the fact there were flights almost on a daily basis they could choose from. So how can FZ compete with TK from SKP or SJJ with its two weekly flights? In my opinion they should have better linked SJJ and SKP with BEG on some days of the week, instead of launching them separately. A stupid move by FZ, same as their pricing in BEG, 430 EUR round-trip to DXB lowest price. Following this trend, in some time QR might become by far the dominant transfer airline out of BEG, cause they seem to act/plan much smarter and offer a better value for money than FZ does. FZ flies passengers without food or luggage but at the price of EK, shameful.

Qatar Airways has been having decent loads out of Belgrade with a constant tendecy of increase since the launch. They didn't expect much and they're quite content for now, they see the line as part of a long-term strategy, in which Belgrade will be an important piece.
Average load-factor from Belgrade so far has been ~56%.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Anonymous13:53

Is that 56 percent without ankara pax? If so very good. Where did you get the data from?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Aэrologic14:15

No, that is if you count it half-half. In reality, Ankara fills 65-70% of the plane and Belgrade 35-30%, but the increase is very steady and noticeable. On some days Belgrade fills more than a half of the whole plane but those have been the average figures so far.

Their main problem on the route is not having 5th freedom between BEG and ESB.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous17:48

Qatar should fly DOH-SOF-BEG and DOH-ESB-OTP. Sofia and Bucharest are already conected by Bulgaria AIr and TAROM. Belgrade doesnt have any conection with Sofia.

    4. Anonymous18:04

But who says the Turks will allow 5th freedom on OTP-ESB?

      Delete
    5. Anonymous04:14

I didnt say that they will get it. They dont have much passingers on OTP-SOF route since there 2 more companies flying same route. I`m sure there will be quite big intereset for BEG-SOF. I`m juct not sure can BEG and SOF in combination fill that aircraft. Bucharest and Ankara are much larger cities

    6. Anonymous03:55

Ankara is much larger than all of those cities, but Bucharest isn't much larger than Belgrade, it is considerably bigger than Sofia though.

Yah it has to be a bigger airport for TK to go double daily.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Anonymous19:15

Turkish Airlines will go 3x daily SJJ-IST on 4days of the week while the other days it will go double daily from march 28. Total of 18 flights per weak by Turkish, then 7 times a week by BH Airlines and 5 times a week by Pegasus. Sarajevo will be linked 30 times a week with Istanbul makes it to 5 daily flights on certain days!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anonymous20:49

Istanbul is pretty much the only place in the world that SJJ is decently connected with. Even if they were to go 5 daily, it would mean that the airport has ~10 flights per day which is really miserable.

      Delete
  14. Anonymous19:36

Yeah isolate the airport and bring in TK. Sjj will not gain anything by that. My dad flew to sjj from north america and paid $2500 for economy from the east cost. Sarajevo is just an other cash cow for star alliance. Need I say more?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Anonymous19:42

    Part two,

I am would not be amazed to see ten flights a day to IST from SJj. An average bosnian muslim would rather travel to europe via IST over ZAG/BEG. They want to keep spining the propaganda how they are closer to the turks over their slavic brothers. I am fine with that.

    ReplyDelete
  16. JU520 BEGLAX23:41

SJJ does not needs much more than IST. IST has connection all over the world, Asia, MEA, Europe, Americas......that s good music enough. Also IST-SJJ there might be enough biz, so that the line makes economically sense....

    Merry Christmas to everybody
