Jat pays upfront for Adria’s A319s
Jat Airways has deposited 450.000 dollars for the lease of Adria Airways’ two Airbus A319s over the next three years. The two jets are expected to arrive in Belgrade in the last week of May and the first week of June, entering service later next month. The aircraft, which are still operating for Adria, are in excellent condition and were manufactured only three years ago. After their move to Jat, the aircraft will continue to be maintained by Adria Airways Tehnika in the Slovenian capital. The two aircraft are still featured in Adria’s schedule after June, mostly on flights from Priština to Germany, though the equipment on these flights is expected to be revised in the coming weeks.
Jat is continuing to battle with a chronic fleet shortage. Aviogenex’s recently refurbished Boeing 737-200 is expected to begin operating on behalf of Jat soon. The aircraft, manufactured in 1987 (and once nicknamed Zadar) is younger than most of Jat’s B737 fleet. The Serbian carrier plans to lease a further two Airbus A320s and one ATR72. According to the airline, a turboprop in good condition is currently difficult to find on the market while the A320s are to be taken from an aircraft leasing company.
Meanwhile, Etihad Airways has completed its screening process of Jat’s business operations. The carrier will now compile a report on Jat prior to a takeover offer expected in mid June. The two airlines are soon to begin codesharing on each other’s flights. National aviation authorities from each country where the two airlines are set to place their codes are in the process of approving the codeshares. Furthermore, Etihad’s equity partner, Air Berlin, has agreed to implement its codesharing agreement with Jat from September. The national carrier of the United Arab Emirates has announced the opening of its representative office in Belgrade. The airline was previously present in Serbia through a general sales agent.

DeleteIn ZAG during summer you have wide-bodies every week at least one, and several times few of them (JAL, Korean, El Al, Air Europa, Aeroflot, TAP, Qatar...).

DeleteNoone said that Aviogenex is flying on behalf of JAT. It is clearly written: is expected to begin operations on behalf of JAT. "Is expected" means it is gonna happen not that it's happening ;)

ReplyDeleteSo plan was that 2 A319 + 2 A320 + 2 ATR 72-500 to come in summer time-table, and that was March.

- just 2 A319 will start to flay in July
- no idea about other 2 A320
- no good ATR 72-500 on market - that is total lie!!!! There are dozens of ATR 72-500 for lease in market this second. Some of biggest leasers to lease ATR 72-500 immediately are Airstrem International, AMS Aircraft, SkyWorld Aviation, Veling...
So to conclude:
- Etihad did not help in leasing Airbuses (that indicate in which stage is possible collaboration, not even near to what was dreaming of members in this blog)
- Jat experts could lease planes from Adria which is near and for which they had phone numbers, but did not succeed to do so from anybody else - for that they have to work something, not just to seat and eat
- 2 planes will come too late and other 3? How will you do that ambitious time-table?
So it was typical JATOVANJE, as we mentioned.
add to this that $450,000 is only about 2-3 months worth of lease costs for these aircraft.
DeleteSince Jat have no pilots to fly Airbus, I suspect that this $450k is for one month of wet lease on both planes.
And what about KROATOVANJE (butter, sickleaves)? It's your expertise, take this into consideration.

Of course not. Let me remind you, one simple code-share was in your mind launch of Jat in range of Lufthansa, at least. There was sentence "now it will be much easier to lease Airbuses because of Etihad support". But that never happened, there was non help of Etihad, so deal is not one, for now. On which level will be deal with Etihad, we will see. But for sure Etihad was not help in leasing Airbuses, and that was not much easier.
DeleteFor sure, it is classical Jatovanje, because 6 planes in March becomes 2 planes in July. "ATR will come first because we don't need training for crew and it is much easier to lease ATRs" becomes «there are no ATR in market».
And that is lie! The fact is there are lot of ATR 72-500 but if you want to lease them in such a short notice it will cost you much more. Why on earth your commission spends time for nothing, did not do anything in December, January, February... So many people here mention that they will not succeed in leasing deal because they are just waiting. Let me remind you that someone here mentions that "leasing aircraft and type rating are not like you go to supermarket for buying bread".
Jat announced that they will start type rating in last week of April. Now it is two weeks later, and I don't see and pilots starting type rating.
And that shows how unprofessional are your Jat "experts". Unfortunately that is one of the things Etihad can not miss in Jat.
A319 will start to fly. But too late (in July), for too much money, and just 2 out of 6 so needed planes.
Just one question - why do you care about Jat so much?! Just let it go to hell and stop sending those messages as if you're writing the story of your life, as if your entire life depends on it...

ReplyDeleteAre there any updates on potential direct flights between Belgrade and USA/Canada? I'm hearing rumors of Etihad planning to start flights to North America via Belgrade and AZAL trying to set up a link to USA via BEG. Just wanted to see if you heard anything.
