BA to Split from May next year

British Airways will launch seasonal flights from London Heathrow Airport to Split next summer season as part of a wider push into the leisure market. The two weekly Split service will be inaugurated on May 1, 2015 and run until the end of the summer season in late October. As a result, Split becomes British Airways’ third destination in Croatia following Zagreb and Dubrovnik, both of which are served on a year-long basis. Emil Delibashev, BA’s Commercial Director for the Balkan region and Hungary, said in a statement, “I am delighted that British Airways will offer flights from our Heathrow hub in London to Split from May 2015. As a result, Split will be linked with London and the world, while on the other hand, British passengers will be able to discover beautiful Split and its surroundings during the summer”. Flight details for the new service can be found here.

British Airways will not be the only novelty at Split Airport next summer season. SunExpress, a joint Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines subsidiary, will launch flights from Leipzig starting May 1, with tickets yet to be put on sale. In addition, the airline will also run flights from Leipzig to Dubrovnik. SunExpress has a fleet of 107 aircraft and flies to 74 destinations. In February the airline ordered an additional forty Boeing 737 jets. Lufthansa is considering developing SunExpress into a low cost long haul carrier in the coming future.

Meanwhile, Split Airport has continued to record passenger growth for a sixth consecutive month. The airport welcomed 243.761 passengers through its doors in September, an increase of 9.6% compared to the same month last year. During the elapsed nine months of the year, Split Airport has handled 1.576.050 passengers, a notable 10.9% increase on 2013. By the end of October the airport is expected to handle more passengers than it did for the whole of last year. Split continues to maintain its position as the third busiest airport in the former Yugoslavia so far in 2014.

LH to Split in Winter? Will those flights now be operated?

Btw great old vintage photo of LX 456 A312 ZRH-ZAG-BEG
At that time some flights during the week were operated with widebodies with 7 seats in a Y row and containers loaded up to 160 cm. Great time for passengers and cargo. I loved the 312 and the 313. The 313 were used for longer hauls such as EWR or Africa, Dubai.

Niš officials were talking about a carrier from Switzerland. But it makes no sense to have a legacy carrier in Niš. Niš is perfect for diaspora low cost lines like Tuzla.

Air Serbia is sending its A320 to Ljubljana this afternoon, again! Is there some special reason why they are doing it, like some group travelling because it's the second time this week!
If I remember correctly, a few days ago it left with 144 passengers and returned with 104.

Hmm so is it the same group that went to Ljubljana a few days ago? 98 going there is fantastic. I really think that Air Serbia should consider upgauging the route, or at least to add more frequencies.

Well, they did load 11 weekly flights a few weeks ago. I don't know why they decided against it.

By the way, is it true that Etihad will transfer two more A319 to JU?

€220 return ticket from Banja Luka to Zurich. I am sure that as we approach the launch date that they will have some promotions. How much does B&H charge? What about OU from Zagreb?

Zasada sve izgleda vrlo dobro i kvalitetno.
