Fraport buys out Ljubljana Airport operator

Fraport takes full control of Ljubljana Airport

German Airport conglomerate Fraport has taken over a further 22.4% stake in Ljubljana Jože Punčik Airport’s operator Aerodrom Ljubljana and now owns 97.9% of the company. The Germans will pay 57.3 million euros for the 22.4% stake at 61.75 euros per share. The price per share equals the price Fraport paid to a consortium of sellers, including the state, last month, when it took over 75.5% of Aerodrom Ljubljana for 177.1 million euros. Fraport plans to expand passenger and cargo traffic at Ljubljana Airport, as well as increase profits and the number of employees. In a statement, the CEO of the German company, Stefan Schulte, said, “We are here as long term investors. We are looking for a long term development of Ljubljana Airport”.

The CEO of Jože Pučnik Airport, Zmago Skobir, believes the acquisition on behalf of Fraport is a major milestone in the airport’s development. Mr. Skobir expects new airlines and routes to come as the deal is finalised. Air Serbia has already announced plans to double its frequency from Belgrade this December, while Swiss International Air Lines will commence daily flights from Zurich to the Slovenian capital starting March 29, 2015. Furthermore, Adria Airways will launch new routes to Berlin and Stockholm next summer. Fraport’s development plans for Ljubljana Airport are similar to those drafted by Aerodrom Ljubljana. Its first task will be to provide an even better service to passengers and the German operator has committed itself to modernising the current passenger terminal. However, projects for the construction of a new terminal and a new runway will depend on passenger growth and are not planned in the near future.

Fraport, officially known as Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide, manages Europe’s third busiest airport - Frankfurt. In addition, the company also runs several major airports across the world including Cairo, Delhi, Hanover, Pulkovo Airport in Saint Petersburg and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Closer to home, Fraport manages Bulgaria’s Varna and Burgas airports. Furthermore, the conglomerate administrates the main international airports in Lima in Peru, Xi’an in China, Antalya in Turkey and the new airport in Dakar in Senegal, which is currently under construction. The company boasts some 20.000 employees and in 2013 generated revenue of 2.6 billion euros. Ljubljana Airport handled 1.3 million passengers in 2013, earning a net profit of 5.2 million euros and recording revenue of some 31 million euros.

No guys, you are all wrong, CSA cargo uses its own metal on the 2 weekly flight to PRG. The Swiftair flight is 5 weekly and goes from CGN. The only similrity is that both of them are via Sofia

Koriste zakon, nisu uradili nista urnebesno.

You didn't understand me. Croatia has cleared JU to fly to ZAG. It was not issued 5th freedom as in fly from ZAG to some other city like Budapest but it can fly from ZAG to BEG and the passenger can go wherever the hell he wants from BEG. They gave the license last week I think it was Wednesday. It was on the day that this site reported they were given a license. They were cleared to fly with any plane from their fleet - ATR/A319/A320 twice per day.

I would fly 6 times a day to zag for 50 euros t/r and ou would collapse before asl and from the ashes a new yugo airline would take form.the croats have to understand one day that the rest of the yugorepublics are the closest friends they ever will have not germany or austria.
