| Wizz Air to commence Belgrade - Baden-Baden flights next year |
Following over a year of downsizing at its Belgrade base, low cost carrier Wizz Air will introduce a new service from the Serbian capital, with flights to Baden-Baden in Germany to launch at the start of the 2016 summer season, on March 28. Services to the spa town in southwestern Germany, located close to the borders of France and Switzerland, will operate twice per week with an Airbus A320 aircraft each Monday and Friday. Tamara Mshvenieradze, Wizz Air's Corporate Communications Manager, said, "With our new Belgrade service to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, we now offer thirteen international routes from two Serbian airports. We look forward to welcoming many more visitors to the country and to carry more Serbian travellers on leisure and business on our modern Airbus A320 fleet".
Wizz Air, which is the second busiest airline operating out of Belgrade, saw its passenger figures decline 11.4% from the city during the first half of the year, which was accompanied by a 16.2% decline in the number of operated flights. The no frills carrier cut its capacity from the Serbian capital by 130.000 seats over the past year, with 700 fewer flights operated as a result of Belgrade Airport's decision to increase fees, which Wizz says has made it one of the most expensive airports in its network. The new Baden-Baden service will become Wizz Air's first route launch from Belgrade since it introduced flights to Larnaca in March last year. The airline will have no direct competition on the route but does face indirect competition from Air Serbia, which maintains flights to Stuttgart located just over seventy kilometres from Karlsruhe and 100 kilometres from Baden-Baden.
The low cost airline has expanded rapidly this year within the former Yugoslavia, opening thirteen new routes and its third base in the region. It introduced services from Malmo and Basel to Serbia's second airport in Niš and commenced five new routes from Skopje, where it based its third aircraft. Furthermore, the airline opened a base in Tuzla and added Ohrid to its destination network by launching two routes, one of which is operated on a seasonal basis.
Tickets for the new Belgrade - Baden-Baden service are already on sale via the airline's website. Further flight information can be found here.

Let's see how JU responds to this. I hope it doesn't turn out to be another LCA scenario. Wizz Air's times are also very convenient for locals and Monday-Friday is also a smart move.
I wonder what might come next. Btw will this route be operated by a BEG based aircraft? Where did they find the aircraft for this route? Will another destination get a non-BEG aircraft?
Otherwise subversions to ASL can not continue.
The real question now is what will JU do? How will they deal with W6 on this market.
Wizz Air can not possibly compete with that.
BTS is 1hr away from Vienna by car. I'm sure there are regular shuttles to Vienna.

How many of JU's aircraft are fitted with wifi right now?
Most passengers don't really care about sandwiches and nice uniforms as they want CHEAP fares!!
So, it is not possible to open a new destination ?
They have a base in BEG and who knows, they may someday station a plane at INI.
Oh, I'm sorry, it's probable because of metal cuttlery and BEG business lounge that economy passengers will chose ASL over W6 :)
This is a small charter operation at best.
Also, you are comparing legacy carriers with an ultra-lowcost one.
Luxury ain't cheap, like most Balkanites are so...

They will just make JU fly to Strasbourg even if they are the only persons on the plane.

Funny thing is that actually JU serves sandwiches to STR. :D
Also, JU is suspending them in winter without launching any new routes and they are decreasing their overall flying which can only indicate that they entered this business without doing proper research. It's ok when we are talking about one or two routes but not the overall network.
All airlines reduce their network but they do it so that they can still be competitive. This won't be the case with JU this winter season.
If they did gain much then there wouldn't be so much 'shedding' this winter season.
They definitely gained much. that is clearly visible in the figures. They are getting better and better. Lower frequencies will keep the LF at a reasonable level this winter. I see no problem.
Million passengers more is not big for you?
Dumping fares makes sense when you have the neccessary cash reserves, something JU obviously doesn't have.
A more prudent approach would have been far more desirable. Another things we have seen is that despite all the bling bling, JU has shown to us all that it's incapable of winning a fight against any bigger player.

Also, DY offers free wifi and they haven't reported any losses.
So what's your argument?
I jos jedan dokaz da nigde nema monopola.

Monopoly,
the exclusive possession or control of the supply of or trade in a commodity or service.
On je napisao da JU nema monopol na nijednoj liniji sto je glupost i laz.
@bot
Jeste, ima monopol na liniji FRA-INN. Nauci sta je monopol.
INN-NS
Yugo's now. Slovenes and Croats use ZRH or FRA to fly home, Macedonians and Serbs use W6 from BSL. I truly believe there is a market for EZY to fly from Basel to Zagreb, not sure for Ljubljana.
However, Strasbourg is very isolated from major airports (I'll put BSL into that classification too) so you have to get in your car at least 2 or 3 hours before the check in.
If 4U was to launch TXL-BEG then JU would lose its monoply.

Ma da vecina iz INN leti sa LH :)

When two airlines agree on fare as is the case on BEG-VIE then it's called a duopoly.
If an airline is no longer the sole operator on a particular route then it has lost it's monopoly.
If two countries have an agreement on which airline will operate on behalf of each then it's state protectionism which is usually dropped when countries sign an open skies agreement.
Certain people on here who want to insult others better present their own arguments. Thank you.
А ти опет трчиш пред руду па ће ти после ђаво бити крив. :*
I kako vam se svideo let sa 77W :)

77L, super-heavy, incredibly long-take off run, impressive aircraft.
Direct subsidies to JU are indeed vital to its survival- without them they airline would be on the brink of bankruptcy.
LH, E2, QR, W6 u BEG placaju punu cenu goriva NIS-u, i punu cenu taksi Aerodromu.
Sporedjujes dve razlicite stvari.
