Dubrovnik Airport saw its busiest 24 hours on record on July 14. It handled almost 18.000 passengers, representing the highest single-day figure in its 55-year history. During the first half of 2016, Dubrovnik Airport welcomed 676.707 travellers through its doors, an increase of 15.2% compared to last year. "We anticipated our annual growth rate to amount to 3% or 4%. The double digit growth we have seen during the first half of the year has truly surprised us so it is difficult to predict how the rest of the season will play out", Dubrovnik Airport's Deputy General Manager, Frano Luetić, said. The record numbers come in the lead-up to the 2016/17 winter season, which is also expected to be the airport's busiest with several new routes to be launched. Meanwhile, the multi million euro expansion of Dubrovnik Airport is in full swing, with construction of the new Terminal C building to be completed on schedule in September, while the official opening is slated for March 2017.

DeleteIt was built on a budget, so it looks bit warehousey, but once new terminal opens much of the traffic will be done through that.
Current terminal is very small, only 15-16000sqm not sufficient for projected 3.0 million pax Dubrovnik is expected to handle in 2020. Fully expanded Terminal will be a lot bigger with 36500sqm of internal space it'll be able to handle 5.5 million pax and more.
Where current baggage sorting facility is, once Terminal hits 5.5 million pax this is where terminal will expand to, no idea if they'll just add on top new facility or knock it down and build 3rd section of the terminal with luggage sorting facility moved in to the basement.
with 6 passenger boarding bridges and 10 million capacity, final 17000 sqm section (92x52m) should be added after 2025, airport will then have a combined 54000sqm (2nd largest in region) and have combined capacity of 10-12 million.
