Qatar adds Vueling codeshares to Croatia

NEWS FLASH

Qatar Airways, which owns a 20% share of International Airlines Group (IAG), has announced plans to codeshare with the group’s Spanish low cost carrier Vueling on 67 routes, some of which are in Croatia. The Qatari carrier will add its flight numbers and designator code onto Vueling's services from both Barcelona and Rome to Dubrovnik and Split. This winter season, Vueling, which has previously operated only seasonal flights to Croatia, will maintain services from Rome to Dubrovnik. Qatar Airways maintains ten weekly flights from Doha to Zagreb.

General question: Do other major companies have simmilar codeshares with low cost carriers? I just can't imagine eg. Etihad codesharing with Pegasus :D

It's probably because both Qatar and Vueling are part of oneworld. BA also codeshares with Vuealing on some routes, though I am not sure their customers are very pleased to fly on Vueling planes having paid the BA fare.

Note that QR now owns 20% of IAG, which is Vuelings parent company (also of BA and IB).
